Tainted Butterfly

Every channel I turn on tonight has Terri Schiavo plastered on it. It has turned into a media fiasco. What is the right and wrong of the situation? Is it right to let someone die if they wanted that as their final wish? Is it right to let someone starve to death purposely? I am completely divided on the case. |

I would not want to live as a vegetable I know I would just rather die. It had been so many years there was no chance for any change. Pictures of her in that state posted all over tv I think it's just terrible. I believe it was best to let her go. It's sad but how many more years could that go on. |

personally i wouldn't want to live in the state she was in, but having said that i think allowing her to starve to death over 13 days of pain and suffering is unbelievably wrong. I don't care what her husband thinks he knows about what she would want, she can't make that decision for herself right now, and he has no right to inflict that kind of suffering on her. Also, there was an interview with her and her parents, and it might be the media just playing to controversy, but her father was asking her questions about what she wanted, and he said ' if only you could tell us that you wanted to live...' and she said the word 'live' after him. Whether she was only mimicking her father, or whether she really knew what she was saying, I don't know, but i think the verdict in this case was wrong. |

300% more people wrote their wills after they heard about this case. and i think they kept her on that machine too long. people shouldnt live like that. but i didnt like that they let her starve. thats a really bad way to die. i think they should have maybe injected that think into her that they use to kill people. like, on the death sentence. or something like that. |

I think its really sad that for a long time she wanted to die and the court wouldn't allow the feeding tube to be removed,i'm surprised that one of her family members or someone else didn't take pity on her and remove the feeding tube. The court should've just pulled the feeding tube because she wasn't getting any better. |

selfrejected.. your right, she doesnt deserve to get lethal injection..but does she deserve to starve? when asked if she wanted to die, she said "no" obviously she wanted to live, it should have been HER decision..not the family's, not the husband's. she wanted to live..and murder is murder no matter how its done..she didnt kill anyone but i would have rather had an injection than to be starved to my death. removing the feeding tube...thats just plain torture, and cruel!! |

while Terri may have put herslef in that position, she probably wanted out of it. No one wants to stay in a coma for 15 years. However, I think that her husband, towards the end got a little worried, since she was not in a vegetative state (since she responded to stimulus, a veggie wouldn't) that she might say something. Also, her husband said she did not want to be kept alive. She was not on a ventilator or heart machine, so she was not being kept alive mechanically. A feeding tube is completely different. My theory is is that if she fucking killed someone, then Democrats would be fighting to keep her alive. But she was an innocent victim and NO ONE deserves to die that slow and painfully. I mean come on, not even being allowed a wet washcloth to her lips to give her some liquid? What the hell was Michael Shciavo thinking? *ass hole* Personally i think that Mr. Shciavo is a murder and deserves to go to jail. I mean the Pope, right before he died was on a feeding tube, but know one complained about that. So, what makes Terri Schiavo any different? She isn't. the court system took away her Civil Liberties. And therefore violated the inalienable rights that are protected under the US constitution and Declaration of Independance the "right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." These courts are seriously screwed up. And they went against something that they are for. Unless the Judicial Interpretation of those documents now is that it is okay to kill a harmless person...but i don't think so. Terri Schiavo was murdered and her ex-husband needs to get his ass thrown in jail. |
