How do you know if your hymen is broken?

i talked bout having sex with one of my very best guy friends about two months ago, and he was a virgin too...we agreed and so he brought me roses and i was really nervous and we got down to buisness lol, but when he entered me, i freaked and told him i wasnt ready! and he said he understood and held me for five hours till the sun came up telling me that it was okay and that i was brave for saying it. after that, i bled for about 3 to 4 days..thinking it was my period..but im not sure...and im ready to have sex again and im not sure if im a virgin or not! help!

if any part of his penis (god i hate that word) entered you, you're not a virgin. you broke that by bein penetrated. and yes its could be that your hymen ripped, and it could have ripped badly...were you lubricated well????? that can definitely cause more pain if you werent. and chances are, if you were so nervous, you didnt have enough natural lube...if it doesn't stop bleeding soon, you need to see a doctor about it.

i'm guessing you're at the age where you've had your period for a few years now...isn't it regular yet?? you should keep track on a calendar b/c its important to know if this was your period or not.

how much you bled is also a sure sign...

yea..im 15...and it is regular..i was just to lazy to keep a calender...i do now though! so im not a virgin? to tell ut he truth..i don't even now where my hymen is located...(didn't pay attention in health class...woops) i was really not sure..and no..i wasn't lubricated enough..the condom was supposed to be (keyword) but we were both really nervous...i laugh at it now though..but i was just really nervous at the time..so nothing he did helped lol. thanx alot..so im not a virgin? u sure? thanx again, and it was two months ago, i stopped bleeding after 3 to 4 days. and thanx ari! lol!

It's normal to bleed your first time, even with good lubrication. It's not normal to bleed for 4 or 5 days though, it's not like having a period, it's just like getting a cut (but it's from the hymen actually tearing), it would be sore for a few days or even a week, but the bleeding wont continue, it'll heal.

Next time you do it, use lube or make sure you're horny, it makes it better.

Im still a virgin so I wouldnt have a clue. So Its ten days after your period you are less likely to get pregnant is it? Thanks thats handy to know. But is that ten days after your period finishes or...???

thanx y'all i just schedualed (can't spell sorry) my first visit with an ob-gyn. i also talked to her bout bleeding three to four days afterward she said..that if the hymen is harder to break more pain would've been there and that i would've bled harder than most. oo and i also asked her bout the right time to have sex and not get pregnant and she said 7 to 10 days AFTER ur period! for those that were asking! again thanx y'all!!! don't know where i'd be with yall!!

ur hymen cant just brake from having sex. it can break from other things too. like sports n if u sit down really really hard on something lol. n even tampons can brake it. ima virgin but my best friend isnt. when she lost her virginity she said she didnt bleed cuz her hymen already broke. it broke when she was about 9 n she sat down really hard on her bycicle seat. n she didnt start her period until she was 12 so.......yeah

this stuff is all comfusin to me... how do u know if u've broken it or not? i mean i know u bleed but like.. when u were little or anything?

u know its broken if u have sex n u dont bleed(unless of course ur on ur period but thats just gross) but if u bleed n ur not on ur period it means ur hymen just broke so........yeah

well, im ashlee hi, the girl that made this thread and i visited a gyno..and she said that i wasn't a virgin...i did the same thing u did..i freaked! and told him i wasn't ready and he needed to get out...but i bled too. so i would make a safe bet that ur in the same boat. lol...and umm...*blushes* i had sex after my visit to the ob-gyn..and it still hurt..but not as bad, it gets better with time i guess! lol!
