I was just reading a post and it mentioned that some people cut so that other people will see and have pity on them. So heres my question... if someone cuts themselves on their wrists is it for attention (like they want people to pity them and comfort them and what not) or is it a cry for help (they want their parents, friends, an adult, or someone to help them, really help them). |

I agree in some ways but cutting is not always attention seeking but some do. |

in some cases it is both. i know people that do it as a joke just because they want the attention. But me myself too as a cutter can tell you that mine was i cry for help...i was hurting in so many ways and at the time i cut as a reminder to my faults. To my mistakes even if they really weren't my fault. Just please make sure you know the person first before you say the person just wants the attention...because you could end up hurting them more. |

I cut and hide it from people who know me because i would hate for them to think i am doing it for attention. Although i do know some people who flaunt it cos they reckon it somehow makes them cool and "emo". I dont do it as a cry for help niether... |

i believe that the people who cut want attention so that they can get help. |

A cry for help IS attention seeking -- they're the same thing. Of course, people that really WANT help, will accept it and use to move on with their life. "Attention seekers" have no intention of changing at all, and won't accept criticism. |
