This is a poem I wrote, structured as a song, it goes under the theme of 'Friendship':

    Hourglass

So here I stand, all alone,
Broken by the rule of change,
What it is I have right now,
    Is everything that cant remain...

    (Pre-Chorus)
    Untarnished by time's tyranny,
Just like the eye within the storm,
    That writes its speechless poetry,
    On paper that remains untorn.

    (Chorus)
    The present slips beneath us,
Just like the hourglass of sand,
    Exhaling the beginning,
    Of a memorable end.

    This ever changing cycle,
    Finds itself upon a stone,
    Bifurcates violently,
    Just like a skeletal bone...

    (Pre-Chorus)
    (Chorus)

Like sand kisses the sea goodbye,
The mist betrays a tearful eye,
Like a falling leaf will be gone,
With loosened grip we will hold on.

    (Chorus)
    (Pre-Chorus)

    Stand Tall
    By: David Marshall

People try to bring me down with hatred and lies.
I'll try my best to hide my sorrows and sighs.
What's wrong with these people, It's like living hell.
I hate them all, i just about fell.
My friends will always be there, to catch me when I fall.
Knowing that, I'll always stand tall.
I can't ask for more, they are the best.
Knowing I'm loved, at night I can rest.
We all need at least one friend, It should be a law.
As long as i have mine, I'll always stand tall.

    Best Friends Forever
    By: Naydeen

Best Friends Are There For Eachother,
They Cheer Eachother Up When The Other Is Down,
    They Get Eachothers Silly Jokes.
Even Though They Get In Fights And Say Mean Things,
    They Always Forgive And Forget.

No Matter What Happens They Stick Together And Help Eachother Out.
You Can Tell Eachother Secrets And Know For A Fact That They Wont Tell Anyone.

Trusting Them With Your Inner Most Thoughts,
Talking To Them About Everything You Keep Inside.

Best Friends Are There For Eachother.
So I Hope We're There For Eachother No Matter What,
Through The Thick And Thin, The Good And Bad,
    The Smiles And Frowns.

    Friends for Life

Years ago, we used to be those friends,
The ones who are always there for each other.
But our lives went different ways in the journey of life,
We just became memories to one another.

After years of no contact, our paths crossed again.
It was then that I realized you're a friend for life,
A friend that will be there forever, a friend
That I can always count on.

It is often when a friendship grows apart,
That neither friend gives it a second thought.
They go on with their own lives, forgetting
About the friendship they are leaving behind.

Many friendships in a lifetime end this way,
Even the best of friends lose contact over the years.
But the true friends realize what they've lost,
And they come back to find each other.
I'm glad that I found you.

I'm sorry i never told you,
what i look for in a friend,
but then again i thought it was safe to assume,
that by now you would have guessed.

    even tho its too late,
as you have betrayed my trust,
    taken my kindness cruelly,
and shoved it up someone's ass,
even tho after all the things that i did for you these times,
the shoulder on which you cry on,
    shall never again be mine,
    even thou its too late,
as you have blown your chance,
i shall tell you one last time,
    what a friendship entails.

a friendship is something one looks to,
when no other roads are their,
    someone you can rely on,
    to always be your staircase,
someone who'll lift you up above all the clouds,
and share joy in your glory,
someone who will never let you down,
one who saves your hurt your pride every single day,
someone who doesn't let jealousy get in the way,
and who never lets a boy ruin the any day.

what i want in a friendship is to get back what i give.
i always thought that within you i had found a true friend,
but you broke all the rules,
and have torn my heart apart,
you through all of my kindness straight at my face,
and laughed when i tried to explain that you have lost the race.

i looked to you for help that week,
    someone to lean on,
but you where no longer there,
    you had left my side.

so now i shall tell you,
    for one time alone,
that you have lost a friendship,
    you will have no more,
for you i did a lot,
    a true friend i was,
but then again you will soon realize,
    that me you have lost.

so next time you take one for granted,
    take a second to think,
do they have to tell you what a friendship should be.

i am not sorry at all,
that to you i did not tell this,
    what i am sorry for,
is that you never knew to begin with,
    and now you have lost,
    all the chances i gave,
i now have other found some truly great friends.

so good bye and next time you see me,
think of what you have lost,
and i will say one last time,
i am sorry you never knew,
and finally i say Good bye.

    Why so sad?
    by Marjan

The sun shines brightly in the sky
But you’re still so sad, I don’t know why

The pain, the lost love ,the strife
They’re all some tests in life

    Can’t you feel the love
    Coming from the above?

The clouds, the beauties of nature
    Even you. you’re God’s creature

God keeps watching over all things
He’s so great, the king of the kings

Don’t let the things you did or did not in the past
Stop you from doing wonderful things in the future. Cuz they won’t last.

I can see you have inner beauty
You’re a pearl in the ocean of humanity

Please have hope and don’t be so sad
Seeing sad people always makes me feel bad

I just wrote this poem to tell you
    Please be happy. Will you?

    Life on your own
    by: Tim Bradshaw

I want to let you in on a secret,
About life when you're on your own,
It isn't what it's all cracked up to be,
I feel that these things need to be known.

When I first moved out of my parents' nest,
I thought that I was the king,
Party every night was my life,
    I didn't care about a thing.

As time went by and things got hard,
Plus losing each job I earned.
Bills piled up to the ceiling,
Is soon the life I learned.

Living each week on a low income,
Is not what I had in mind.
Myself filled without so much confusion,
Seemed like I just wanted to rewind.

To think of the life I had before,
Without the worry to succeed or fail.
Should I go back to the simple life?
Or should I keep on hammering the nail?

I started to ignore my pain,
For the fact that I had support.
With a little help from the one I love,
The defects in my life could start to sort.

I'm not saying that the times aren't still hard,
Each day I have a challenge to come.
My hectic life still filled with love,
Is the reason my worries are numb.

    "Appearances"

    Appearances change
    they twist and morph
    into something new
    into someone else

    People judge you
on what you wear, and how you stand
    what color you wear most
    the way you present yourself

    I use to believe
the way you dress is who you are
    but I was deceived
you can't judge someone by what they wear

    You could dress goth
    or dress like a model
You could dress like a tom-boy
    or even just normal

But no matter who you are
no matter how hard you try
    you can never fool yourself
    of who you are inside

You can try all you want
you can pray to the gods
    but you can never change
    the way you are

    Appearances can be deceiving
If you act the right way
    You can fool the world
    with your little display

    Don't hide who you are
    from the people around you
    let them whisper and stare
    you really shouldn't care

    Appearances change
    they twist and morph
    don't judge a person
until you've seen what lies in their heart

    Grace

    Defeat rips through her heart
as she stumbles to the ground
    the confidence once instilled
    now disappears without a sound

    memories flash in her mind
of a little girl who tried
but never made it to the end
    because she always cried

determined not to be her again
    she wipes away the tears
dusting herself off, she stands up
    and the crowd cheers

with every last bit of strength
she runs with all her might
    destined to conquer a dream
with one single goal in sight

    remembering her mothers words
as she crosses the finish line
    with her pride still intact
and the biggest smile upon her face

"the race is not always won by the swift, but by those who endure to the end".

    Wishing Away My Life
    by  Fancy Ketchup 

There's a handful of things in my life,
That I still so mournfully regret.
It is the things that I've did and done.
It is the mistakes that I can't forget.

I wish I can travel way back in time,
To undo what my past had done.
And if I get a chance to start over.
I think I would start it with my son.

I wish I'd given him the love he deserved,
But I was never there when he was alive.
If only I had done my job as his parent,
Then maybe my son would have survived.

I wish I haven't failed his loving mother,
She had been nothing but faithful to me.
Yet I kept my heart locked in an iron box,
And refused to give her the only fitted key.

I wish I can watch the last sunset with her,
And get the chance to tell her "I love you."
I would wait until the sun disappear forever,
Just to hear her whisper a soft "I love you too."

I wish I was a responsible father and husband,
I know I should have put my wife and kid first.
If I were to be nominated for a single award,
I'd won the category of the best of the worse.

I wish I could change how things have turned out,
But fate itself was playing a different song.
It wants me to wallow up in a blanket of regrets,
And thoughts of everything that I did wrong.

I wish I was given another chance with my son,
I wish for an eternal sunset with my wife.
I wish I hadn't spent years wishing so much,
Maybe... I was wishing away my life.

    The Beggar Man (Ghazal)

Sitting opposite me yet an eternity away from, the beggar man
No one sitting neither beside nor near him, the beggar man.

A man who is like us, yet not one of us
Giving him a much needed eye-contact, so deserves the beggar man.

Wisdom clinging to him like the dust that already resides on him
Reaching out his hand, only to get currency, a daily life of a the beggar man .

Forever knowing he is alone, wrapped in despair
I had a nice conversation with the beggar man.

    Memories.

    Yesterday seems so far ago.
We try to focus on today,
    Looking at past times,
    Hoping time won't fade away

    Looking at this crumpled photo,
Thinking where has the time gone,
These past years have been a blast.
I guess I knew this all along.

Even when I had my bad days.
We know we all have our share.
Thinking about how life's so hard,
And how reality can be so unfair.

But it wasn't all like that,
    We always made it through,
    The hard times and pain,
So we had good days too.

    Flipping back thru the pages,
I see faces of my old classmates.
I wonder what happened to them,
I hope their lives are great.

    Looking through my pictures,
Brings back visions from the past.
Days that seemed to never end
    Memories that would always last.

And as I sort through my stuff,
I think "wow things have changed."
But we know things don't last forever.
And that lifestyles have their range.

But as we travel back to the past
We feel our happiness and pain.
And reflect how we feel today.
Do think you'd do it again?

    It's true we've come a long way.
We never regret what we did
Whether it was trouble or schemes.
After all you were only a kid.

    So cherish those memories,
Because you can't relive the past.
Even though you can't go back,
You can always make them last.
