Philosophy

does anybody take philosophy at uni?
if so what is it like? what sort of jobs can you get with a philosophy degree?

Philosophy degrees are pretty worthless.

I know. It's disappointing. I want one, but without learning an ancient language and discovering a new and highly important philosopher, or a new way of interpreting their work, the job is low paying and with little recognition.

I mean, if you were going to come up with your own philosophies you dont need a degree and you'd be successful. People with phil. degrees assess other people's philosophies for a living.

Well, this woman in my mom's work took philosophy with law. She says it's because it opened your mind to look at things in a different way which is what you need as a lawyer. It's probably a good one to study if you combine it with something else like her. Especially if you're going for a job that needs you to look at things in different perspectives.

Yup being a lawyer is a tough profession, but at the end of it all. You get to be a person who is mainly a jerk most of the time.

My English teacher has just left uni and he took it in his first year, he said it was the most boring thing he's ever taken, and was pointless, with people asking questions such as "Is this table really here?" he would answer "yeah im touching it - " and they would ask him "But are yoyu really here? are you sure you're not dreaming?" Strange subject.

Yeah, you can go to law school with pretty much any degree as long as you have the GPA. I've heard of a lot of lawyers doing that.

um, philosophy degrees..good. if you want to major in pretension.
