Black-White

I'm really not trying to start any fights anywhere in this thread...

But personally, I am sick of continuously being called a racist or something.

One day, our school conselor came in and started talking about it to us. She says "Well, if you're a Christian and White, You're the majority, So you pick on the Minority."

I was literally about to walk out of the class. I was completely angry that once again, because of MY skin color, and MY religion, I'm pick on minorities?

Then at the bus stop, there was my friend, who is an African American.

He said "My dad was walking through the store wearing a dark hood, and a lady yelled at him and called him a predator because he's black!"

I said ''It's not because he's black! If I saw a big man with a hood on walking towards me, I'd feel threatened too!"

I'm sick of being called a racist for being WHITE. I'm sick of BET, I'm sick of FUBU, and I'm sick of constantly having to hold my tongue so I don't have to offend anyone.

Has anyone seen the show blackwhite?

How the black guy says "Golfs a White man's sport. I've never golfed."

And then he says, no one ever put golf shoes on me, because I'm black.

I was thinking..Haven't you NEVER GOLFED?

    White man's sport?

Tiger woods is the best golfer!

It's the little things that put me over the edge about people talking about race.

Racism is a historical battle that I dont think as humanity we will ever be able to fully conquor, its sad that people who arent educated are so afriad of what is different. Im mixed race, growing up was hell for me because I couldnt really sit with any creed, though through the years I have found society has become more accpeting and understanding thru promotion of acceptance, tolerance and education.

i know lots of black people who are racist. they don't like me or others because we're white. unfortunately racism is usually a one way card whites get the short-end of the stick(i think thats a saying that applies here?) then when i say something to the racists about shuting up because they're offending others a teacher or something take the black side rather than mine.

i don't see what religion has to do with it but alot of people use jew as an insult, i mean what the hell how does calling someone a member of the jewish faith an insult. but people are ignorant

Hmm, I have African relatives and Jamacan friends here in England, we just don't see the difference... I don't understand racism of any sort, we are all human living on the same planet under the same sky.

Racial profiling and prejudice attitudes towards minorities, immigrants, etc., will never end. Though it's a great shame, human beings are even the greater coat of shame on top of their actions, and most are too arrogant to step down from their bias state.

Everybody tries so hard to not be rascist, that it has the opposite effect. Is Miss Black America not rascist towards white people? If anybody ever tried to start Miss White America they would get hell over it..

Jaime thats the sort of attitude thats detrimental to the growing and prospering of todays society

As I mentioned earlier we will never overcome this it will always remain in society...its sad but true people are so quick to judge ...

Nikki ...care to define all the countless kinds and creeds of racism in its truest, fakest and ugliest forms?

    I didn't think so - its endless

As for the history - goodness where to start our society is built on racism seriously

    "Missy;

Its called . ' white guilt

its designed to keep white people in their place.
If you've never owned a plantation nor a slave then ignore it."

    What??

Missy, yeah I totally agree. And it also annoys me that these two black kids in my year walk roudn saying to white people "Hush your lil white ass up" or "You're white trash" and get away with it, whereas if someone white retaliates to them, they will get in trouble! Just becuase they are the "minority", doesn't mean they should be ale to get away with it too, or that we should be stereotyped as racists!!!

I guess it just seems to me that when a white person says something insulting, it's "because they're rascist". And I have seen several times when a black person has said something rascist towards white people, and nobody thought anything of it. Maybe it's just my school, I dunno.
Nikki: maybe it is rare for a black woman to win Miss America, but it could be just because they didn't win. It might not have anything to do with their skin colour (well it might.. problem with our world today), but they aren't excluded from it.

Anyways, just an opinion, not trying to offend anyone. Have a good Easter weekend :)

Personally, I am african among other nationalities. Which "duh" makes me black.

But in the real world, I do not see people as some kind of commodity rather as a person who has different tastes and outlook at life.

I find that racism in general makes nothing less as base as the animals that walk with us.

If you think of yourself as nothing more than a colour, than you might as well set us into different species like:

    For black people: Homo Africanus
    For white people: Homo Europiaeius

And so on, which basically is making us nothing more than rival parties like the cheetahs, lions, leopards and pumas.

To the post starter: Look at the world as a person and don't look at the world as nothing more than a colour. This world needs to let go off the pregudices of the forefathers. And live for what today is. Nothing more.

I look at people as what they are - PEOPLE. I have racists in my family, but for my own identity and opinions, i have strayed away from that influence.

Being mixed, i've encountered racism in many forms. I get called the usual "white girl" and the ever so rare "wetback" because no one ever asks me what i am. They just go on and stick a barcode to my forehead.

    But guess what?

    IIIIIII DOOON'T CAAAAARE!

It's fun not caring...you know why? COS YOU DON'T GIVE A FLIP, THAT'S WHY!

This world will always stay the way it is, and the only way it will ever change is when it becomes worse.

you know I always look at this subject from many different angles, and one of those angles is the past, it's really not fair that people are held responsible for the deeds past generations, but yet it has always been that way.......
    ^^

    Exactly.

I never came from the south to begin with.

But Miss Black America, The United Negro Fund

    THIS ISN'T UNITING PEOPLE

This is one of the BIGGEST forms of Segregation going on.

A black woman won Ms. America just last year I think....I think she was Ms. Florida.

But what I'm trying to say is Racism has flipped around drastically, because we're thought to be racists.

My mom has a friend with a 5 year old daughter, who went to school and got called "White Trash."

This really has got to stop.

I know I sound like an angry ranter, but I don't mean it.

I don't want, someday, my child going to school and being tortured endlessly for whatever colors she might have.

I don't see the world in colors.

I'm not sure where you guys live, but I go to a school, which is wonderfully diverse.

But the other day, a kid was bugging me and calling me fat((He was black)) I told him to leave me alone and he told the teacher I was a racist?

It's just not making sense to me anymore. I look at all these great awards and things set up ONLY for black people, like "Black History Month," "The United Negro Fund," and "Miss Black America" and I wonder, what if we set up only things like this for white people.

There would be nothing fights over it.

I am not against any of these things, and when I try to talk to people about how I feel about it, I'm once again shot down as a racist.

Like I asked about "Black History Month" and why we don't have a "White History Month." And my teacher says because "We celebrate that all year round."

I said "But every race we have here is in history. We learn about all these races everyday. All races are here to learn about every color in History, how come we have one month close off to one color?"

I like to learn about all history, but if that's right, what about Mexican Month? And Asian Month?

I think this is beginning to a chain of events that's going down in history.

That really does set you for thinking..

I must've thought the Adam and Eve thing a few things myself...

But somewhere down the line, we started to hate each other...

And it seems nowhere down the line it is going to end.

But that up there must be one of the most intelligent comments on racism I've ever read.

    Thank you Sluvious

Intelligence could be a wonderful thing if we used it all the time...*sigh*

    Oh, well.

(If Sluvious is our imagination, that explains why i've been thinking such dirty thoughts lately...like how i need to clean my bathroom. Hahaha. =P)
