Anxiety Disorders...

I think I have some kind of Anxiety disorder...

I always feel like I'm being followed, watched, or listened to, and I constantly find myself looking behind my shoulder to see if someone's there.

I'm always afraid of horrific things happening before I do something, and they replay in my head whenever I think of doing anything. One day, I was walking with my friend and her friend came behind us and I heard him coming and I screamed. I don't even intend to think this stuff sometimes, but it happens all the time. I feel someone's behind me, about to kill me or listening to me or getting angry.

Do I have any type of disorder?

Well, some people are very nervous. It could be a nervous disorder. I myself have dentophobia, and being five feet close to a dentist's building makes me have mild panic attacks. If I have to actually sit down in a dentist's chair, then I really start having trouble.

The best thing I can advise is that you consult around for Bach's Flower Therapies. They are very relaxing.

I am sorry, you'd have to ask a doctor or psychologist about whether you have any type of disorder.

I work in the mental health field, and you have classic syptoms of paranoia, those are also possible symptoms of shizophrenia. you can look up either condition on the web for more information, but your best bet, if you are truly concerned and wish to seek help for these feelings you have, is to consult with a mental health professional, and get an accurate diagnosis. There are medications to help combat these sypmtoms, if you do in fact have some type of Anxiety Disorder. Good luck to you.

    Thanks ReBecca.

I just looked up schizophrenia on a medical dictionary, and there is one called Paranoid Schizophrenia, but it mostly occurs in hallucinations or voices in the head.

i really h8 being in places that i dnt know, i really find it difficult starting new skls i always believe that some one is going to hurt me and believe that i'm being followed, i believe that the reason for this is because of something tht happened to some ppl in my family

Rebecca, sorry love, if you genuinely work in mental health, what are you doing suggesting that Missy is displaying classic symptoms of Schizophrenia? How responsible is that? You don't know her, or any of her background... you're way out of line, even if you're a psychiatrist, you cannot diagnose over the internet!!!
Paranoia is a human condition and not necessarily related to schizophrenia... oh and by the way I also work in mental health.

    love and light

Anxiety disorders can sometimes have smaller symptoms than you think. Worrying about being followed is more likely to be a mild form of OCD than an AD. I would go see your doctor, they can prescribe you with mild medication, to calm down nerves - and if you dislike medication, you can see a psychiatrist. I personally know somebody with GAD, and they have to take medication every day, see a psychiatrist and an anger management guy once a month, and have regular doctors appointments. Your doctor will be able to help you determine the symptoms of AD , and whether you have it seriously, mildly - or at all. If you need someone to talk to -

thats why i said: but your best bet, if you are truly concerned and wish to seek help for these feelings you have, is to consult with a mental health professional, and get an accurate diagnosis.

i would never suggest someone take the diagnosis of someone over the internet. peace.

I have social phobia...I hate being around a lot of people...HATE IT! And i work in retail...I hate that too. When i was in school, i had to take time off because i couldnt bring myself to go to school...we had over 2000 students there, it wasnt a good place for me at the time. Im better now, but i still have to work on it a lot.
