I need an answer to a important question please

Ok, yea I got a letter from the International Society of Poets, saying I'm a finalist for a contest, I mean it looks genuine but, I can't shake the feeling that it's either a joke or a scam for money, it doesn't really ask for money, but dude I am to poor to waste money unless I know it is real. So here is my question: is there really an International Society of Poets? If so, it there really a contest? Thank you anyone who answers

Definately a scam. You can submit something like asdjashndaisjdaiwdoas or 'roses are red, violets are blue, I love you!' and sooner or later you will find a letter at your doorstep, demanding money. There are many websites lately that are scams, so becareful how you put your information up on the internet, and don't spend any money on anything until you know it's real.

I for one know this one is not because I got like 50 dumb letters from them.

I get letters from them a lot.

They'll say "Congrats, you got a really cool award?

Mind paying for it?"

Yep, know 'em well... just ignore them and they'll go away. If any of us ever actually receive a reward from them, well that'd be great... I've also had them attempting to get me to part with money to publish my own book of poems... I'm quite rude to such demands because I don't believe in vanity publishing.
I have found that an e-mail promising legal action tends to do the trick... :-)))

I am invited to go to this big convention in Las Vegas, even though I have to pay =D
