How many films that have been re-made have you seen the original of?

Examples: The Fog, The Italian Job, Ladykillers, The Fly, Get Carter, Psycho, Shaft, Ocean's Eleven, The Ring, Planet of the Apes and the latest ones like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, King Kong, War of the Worlds The Omen and Poseidon. (There are plenty more I am sure that I am unaware of or can't remember.)

Have you seen both? Which did you prefer?

Ok..so I've seen The Lady Killers....with Tom hanks..I'm assuming that wasn't the origianl, but it was funny and much enjoyed!! I've seen Oceans Eleven! I didn't know that was a remake...so I haven't seen the origial, but without even seeing it I have to say I already like the new version better..with a movie like that the technology in this day and age is better!

Charlie and the Chocalate factory...Willy Wonka and the Chocalate family, LOVED it when I was younger, the new one, Charlie and the chocalate factory looked stupid

Poseidon...Seen the latest version...thought it was really good....funny you asked this..I'm gunna borrow the original from someone this weekend..I'll get back to it

THe one I did see Both the original and re-make was The Longest Yard....The original was way more funnier!

Psycho - I've only seen the original... cracked me up... actually, i didn't know whether to scream or laugh at the 'scary' bits

The Ring - I tried watching Ring O but, I think that might have been a prequel. Anyway, I liked the remake better but only because, reading the subtitles kind of distracted me from becoming scared.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - I hate both versions. Oompa Loompas scare me.

King Kong - Haven't seen the original but I do want to... might get a little boring though

House of Wax - DYING to see the original, after that... THING with the Hilton.

The Omen - I'm gonna watch it, hopefully this weekend but, I couldn't even get through the original after the scene with the babysitter and the birthday. "It's all for you!" UGH!!! Scary!!!

I have seem a lot of original films as I feel they are the classics, and can never be beaten, and some recent films sre spoilt with over the top special effetcs.

-The hills have eyes- only seen the original
-Texas chain saw massacre- original is better
    -king kong-newer one
-dawn of the dead- newer one
-charlie and the choclate factory- newer one
-the fly (there was a remake? where have I been?)
    - and the fog- I've only seen the original

Well...to be honest I never bother to look up whether a film is a remake.

But, I happened to see the old, black and white Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, and I LOOOVVEEEDDD it.

Of course, I immediately rented the remake, or "young" version. I ABSOLUTELY HATED IT!!
However the director was, he ruined a masterpiece!

Sorry to be nasty, but that film was gross.
Adam Sandler just couldn't do what Cary Grant did.
    (Cary Grant, wasn't it?)
Anyway, I had to get that out. It's not that I'm a Deeds fan, it's just that the first film was fantastic, and the modern version...was horrible.

-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Pretty much everyone above the age of 10 has probably seen the original...)
-Poseidon (It was a masterpiece, also one of the best literature pieces ever to be know. First Epic.)

I have seen both CC's, but I have not seen the new Poseidon. Our English class agreed to only see the Original. Also like Romeo and Juliet, we saw the Original. And you missed one...

I really do forget the name, but its with Jack Nichelson (Sorry for my bad spelling) and they go to a huge house, and the boy has this voice inside of him? Uh, I really don't 'member the name. But, I have seen the Original.

I haven't seen any of those you mentioned, except the ones I have stated up there, New or Original. But if I had the choice, I would see the Original. Its sad how each clever and great movies are being reproduced, and loosing its Original Essence.

I think most originals are better than new ones. I don't know but it's like the new ones come with better technology and everything...better quality, but they lost the natural touch oldies have.

For films I saw both of:
    * The Italian Job
    *Psycho
    *Ocean's Eleven
    *The Ring
    *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
    *King Kong
*War Of The Worlds (Liked the new one)
    *The Omen
    *Poseidon (Liked new one better)

-The oldies were better for the rest.

    I've seen both of these:
Psycho - I liked the older version
    Shaft - Older version
    Ocean's Eleven - New version
    The Ring - Neither
Planet of the Apes - New version
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - I liked both
    King Kong - I didn't like either
War of the Worlds - Older version
Amityville Horror - The older version was way better, I watched it when I was 8 or so, it scared the hell out of me.
