The best thing I can suggest is dress older than your age. I'd suggest Dorothy Perkins and Next, as both have beautiful adult clothes, but in petite sizes. Wear heels, obviously, and if you have a good posture, you'll already make yourself look taller. I suppose these are things you already know, but I'm not entirely sure what else to suggest. |

well, thanks. Its not that simple Kara cos i cant always fit into size 6 and alot of my clothes are children's sizes because i'm just too small. |

well, you're only 18, so you're not an adult yet, so you're not required to look and act like one. don't rush it. |

I kinda know what you mean Tara-Kay.. I'm 17 but I'm really small and look around 13-14. And I only just fit into a size 6. |

Oh, well, I have the opposite problem...with height, anyway. I, like my sister, am too tall for my age. I'm thirteen an a, well, 5'5, I think. That's okay, but my sister is 16 and more than 6' feet. As I live in Chile its difficult to get shoes that fit, and in a few more years clothes won't fit either. |

I am also eighteen. I feel I look about 15. I do have the height, but not the mature face. I am probably one of the most mature people in this neightborhood. I do undertsand why you would be mad that ppl do not see you for your age. The thing I do is only when I go out, I get dressed up, make-up, and i then look my age. Honestly, I hate wearing make-up, but it does work. Think of the positive of this though, when you are in your thirties you will look in your twenty's. So, in the long term, it is good news. :) |

i have that same problem. i just turned 16 last month and im only 4' 11". all my friends like to crack jokes about my height, but that doesnt bother me so much cause i just know that theyre kidding. but when i go to the store and stuff people always think that im supposed to be in elementary school still. ill be hanging out with my friends who are like 5' 5"+ and i always get looked at funny. its actually really annoying after awhile. |

Tara-Kay, are you sure that people actually think you look like a child or think OF YOU as a child? could some of this idea come from insecurity? I am 5'7" or 5'8" and my friends are all much shorter than me (for whatever reason)...but never once have I thought of them as younger than their age. I usually don't even notice the height. My two best friends are 4'11" and 5'1"...and my boyfriend is 6'3". to me, height does not really matter. people will judge you for your maturity and your personality i think, not so much your height. however, i may be completely wrong, and you could be right on, so in that case...work on your confidence because that adds years. also i agree high-heeled shoes help (which you are lucky you can wear!!! i love high heels but i look stupid in them because i tower over everyone and look out of place), SHORT HAIRCUTS definitely (you can cut your own hair too or have a friend cut your hair...i never go to the barber!), feminine clothes that accentuate your curves/womanly figure, makeup (lipstick maybe?), and well...i think that will do the trick. |
