Question about the war in Iraq

Well my cousin is being shipped to Iraq to drive trucks and it just seems so unfair. He had 2 months to go and then the army calls him back. I guess he's supposed to be there for another 2 years and I am so scared for him. I don't want anything happening. And I heard that the Iraq soldiers take the truck drivers hostages. I'm just really worried about him. I mean he's only 25. It just seems so unfair. Does anyone really know whats happening out there. Please respond.

Actually, I think the war is just something for Bush to do. He is such a stupid prick. I am sorry to hear that he was sent back out there. But does he even know why he is fighting?!?

"Does anyone really know whats happening out there."

People are shooting each other, blowing stuff up, and dying. That's what's happening. I don't really understand your question. Suprisingly enough, despite all of the stuff going on there, it isn't even close to being one of the most dangerous places on Earth. Be happy your friend isn't in sub-saharan Africa.

i Never really asked him why he is fighting. I mean he's very proud to live in this country. And the question "whats happening out there" I want to know how many americans get sent back in body bags. I mean I heard the Iraq people take care of our soldiers but I dont know. I just needs answers

" I want to know how many americans get sent back in body bags. I mean I heard the Iraq people take care of our soldiers but I dont know. I just needs answers"

American soldiers are dying. If you look at cnn.com, you might be able to find a number for the current casualty count. There are plenty of Iraqi people taking care of wounded Americans and fighting alongside americans. There are also Iraqis shooting at Americans and fellow Iraqis. Meh.

I have a friend who's gotta be the sweetest person I have ever talked to. Well a couple of days afer my birthday next year, he's going to Kuwait for a few months. I'm scared even now for him and I'm sure you're so scared for your cousin. But that's what your cousin decided to do. Joined the military. It's always a risk.

  • Live, Laugh, Love

Yeah but what sucks about my cousin was that he joined before the war started. I mean I know that sounds bad in my part I should be proud of him for fighting in this war but actually I am really worried about him. If I had my way I would send him to Italy or something and have him and his fiance live a LONG happy life without the governement making him go fight. I'm also sorry to here about your friend

O and I am going to check out cnn.com right now. I'm just so freakin worried. And scared. The world really is a messed up place.

Personally I think this war is a power trip for Bush, he wants to make a name for himself. I support the soldiers and I know Many people who's family is over there. But I don't support Bush, because if it wasn't for him, so many people would still have their family to hold, and now they're gone.

My friend joined the military a couple of years ago and reenlisted recently. But honestly he says he loves it. I know I'll be worried about him. Me and him are close.

It's so sad. I feel so bad for him. I feel bad for all of you. I actually know what your all going through. IT's such a terrible feeling. Like I'm just really worried. I'm scared, frustrated, and angry. I really do hate Bush at this point. I can't wait till he is out of office. I guess I'm just going to pray for my cousin and anyone else who is there. THis war is pointless. Err I'm so mad right now.

the war is pointless. now that Saddam Hussien (SP?) is gone, do we really need to still be over there?

  • Eibutsina

I think we do need to still be over there to finish the job and establish some ground work for there new goverment to be able to work with. Iraqi residents of the non extremist kind are victims of war too...It would be inhumane for us to leave them to fend for themselves. I am however from Australia I would like to point out my father spent a few month over there just after September 11 occured and I feel the fear your talking about - its one thing to listen to the news and have your opinion but when its someone you know, when its close to home its a lil different.
I cant honestly say I know whats going on there, I cant say I agree with it or dont agree with it, I can say that I hope our prescence makes Iraq a better country for those Iraqis suffering from the turmoil of extreme fundamentalism.

Your cousin is at risk as much as everyone else in the war. Whats going on over there is wrongful killings that should've never happened. Crazy people trying to kill other people. People who are brave enough to defend their country being shot. People are being taken as hostages and families are going crazy with so many questions that can't be answered.

A LOT of things are going on over there.

    relating to Sean first post

what are they doing, they aren't really doing any mission are they or is it sitting around waiting to get shot? or are they securing democracy over here in north america?

Your cousin made the choice to join the armed services like so many others.

Right or wrong my country so the soldier's phrase goes.

If he wasn't prepared to go to a war zone he should never have signed up.

I would have sympathy for him but I've been there and done that. All the best to you though, and don't worry too much he'll be just fine.

  • Poetess Lana

"If he wasn't prepared to go to a war zone he should never have signed up."

isnt it mandatory for all males at age 18 to sign the draft?

  • Sean Allen

he wasn't drafted though. and you don't sign the draft, you're automatically entered. We haven't had a draft for Iraq. everyone over there are volunteers.

I totally agree with you. my boyfriend Derrick is over there right now and I worry about him all the time. Bush should bring them home the troops deserve it the most

I stand beside my president. the burden of leadership is great and it must be hard for several million different voices to be complaining for this and that.

shame on you for slandering bush. our marines are there of their own free will. they are there because they want to be, not because some tyrant made them.

anyone can tear a government down but who can rebuild it? you? me? anybody? that man in the oval office is more of a man than me and more of a man than most people.

  • Independence Forever

They have faith in democracy, george bush, and the america they left behind. to slander america and it's ways would be to slander the troops who volunteered to protect it.

Regardless of the war in iraq, iran, korea and them would have been on our doorstep if we did nothing.

if we had allowed ourselves to be bombed and did nothing, we still would be like we are.

i have loved one's in iraq too, but i'm not going to be selfish and try to keep them when they feel they need to go.

bush may have made some difficult decisions that cost something. but are we gonna solve problems or are we gonna make more by bashing everything in sight and saying what if scenarios

It's funny how war seems...Oh so positive in the eyes of some...

As for me, I say what's the use...

The people chose, and the people will suffer the consequences of their choice...

UN resolution 696 demands that iraqui not attack any countries due to it's attack on kuwait. since then according to wilkipedia they have shot down numerous british and american planes.

What i can't stand is when people bicker and argue about bad politics and they do nothing about it. hey VOTE!!!!!

  • Beautiful Chaos

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, it is not always a good source and I am pretty sure that was not the reason given for going to war.

People bicker about politics and vote.

  • Independence Forever

People debate about how wrong the bush administration TO EACH OTHER. the poor man can't defend himself.

either agree and call it a day or get out. it isn't fair to have a little hate parade on someone, especially behind their back. it's cowardly

  • Beautiful Chaos

Wow what great freedom you preach David lol Agree or get out does not sound like much of a democracy to me. Is that what this country is supposed to be about? There is nothing that I would say here that I would not gladly say to Mr.Bush's face if the opportunity ever arose. Surprisingly though you can't just call him up and demand a meeting lmao

  • Independence Forever

That's the thing though. you always have to have something to complain about.

if it's not one thing it's another.

oh and by agree or get out i meant agree with each other that bush is bad. instead of going over and over on how he's killing americans

    George Bush's moronic quotes
"I know how hard it is to put food on your family" "The great thing about America is that everybody should vote" "We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur" "Public speaking is very easy" ***"This has been tough weeks in that country"***(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) "I was a prisoner too, but for bad reasons" "I'm a follwer of American Politics" "I'm the master of low expectations" "I think war is a dangerous place" "The future will be better tomorrow" "I Stand by all the Misstatements that i've made"

Wow...I gotta hand it to ya Bush, you really fooled people by your moronic stupidity. And here I thought he was nothing more than a mere puppet controlled by the evil powers that be...

But hey I was soooooooooo wrong...Thank you Bush for showing us that your culture is soo perfect in democracy and fairness...
