don't you just hate it when you have more comments on a poem then you do votes???!?!? i mean if you're going to comment, might as well vote.

Not at all. A vote is an arbitrary number especially when compared to a constructive comment. Oh, and a carefully constructed comment never begins with wow.

I never vote, what's the point? You have rubbish voted 5 on a daily basis that's not worth a 3 and the poetry that is worth a 5 is often misunderstood and downvoted. Plus the 1-5 is relative to the voter's ability which makes the vote unreliable and unqualified.

If you can't write for your own enjoyment and rely on votes, why bother writing?

I totally agree with Mr. Shank. Think about it, what difference does it make whether your poem is rated a 5 or a 1 ? What matters is what others have to say- whether they offer suggestions, praise you or even challenge the concept of the piece.

    Rock on, Shanko ;).

Votes shouldn't matter. The people who leave comments are the ones who actually took the time to read your poem, and possibly make connections. At least with comments, you know the reasoning for what people think. I personally like getting comments more than votes.

I would much rather have someone comment on a poem than vote on it. It is so easy to vote, but if someone takes the time to leave a comment, then I know it comes from the heart. Whether its a good comment or a bad one, I don't care. I value those who take the time to leave me a message.

I think if the voting system was valid then I would be interested to know what other people thought my poems should be rated,as it is I would much rather read peoples comments, neither one would change my own opinion of the poem in general, though I am very willing to edit if someones comments help me to see where improvements could be made.
