Yin Yang

I got into this deep conversation with a friend over words and the yin yang thing. We wanted to know one word that would truly describe the meaning of either side. Not just the synonym for light, or the synonym for dark. But just the separation of yin and yang.

What's your opnion on this?
Here's what my friend said:
"but if you take one of them away, what does it become?" this is right after she asked if yin yang is more than the idea of light and dark.

I always heard that Yin and Yang were a representation that in darkness there is always a little bit of light, and vice versa.

to me it represents the high and the low part of your life. dark=black....light=white

it can also represent my ethnicity.....im mixed with both those colors lol
