Classical. Or sountracks such as 'Clubbed to Death'.

Silence... or if I'm emotional I put on sad songs, like "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice, or "Nothing Compaes 2 U" by Sinnead O'Connell, or some angry Avril Lavigne music...
The problem is that the singer will say "face," and I'll write "lace" into my poem. So if I use music I try to be very freestyle... even then I get disconcentrated somewhat.

Really it all depends on my mood, All music in someway, shape, or form helps me to write in different ways.

Almost all music...I love many songs of different genres. The other day I took a Calculus final exam with my iPod in my ears...and I aced it! Music always helps me concentrate.

we're not allowed to take music into exams in case we've recorded information onto it!

I sit at my computer in the dark. Maybe put on one particular song, "Fix You" by coldplay. Its kind of somber and bittersweet. Its the only song I can listen to while I write.

Linkin Park helps me write a lot.
And alicia keys and other music like that when i write about love and stuff.
I always listen to music that relates to what i want to write.

For me, it has to be music that has no vocals, and very open gentle sounds. So classical and some ambient music. Just enough to distract my conscious mind so I can get at the deep stuff.

I can't usually listen to music when I write, it distracts me too much. Sometimes I can get away with it, then it's usually music that suits what mood I'm in.

Anything without words, whenever I hear a person saying or singing words it completely throws me off or influences me in the wrong direction.

i have to agree there.. it depends on the mood, but i cant listen directly to the words, cause if i do.. it throws off my track, which is easy enough with my adhd..

No music, but if I do listen, then I chose orchestra music. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander, POTC...
