You call me, "redneck" ,"hillbilly", "slaker" , "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey", "Gringo" and you think it's OK.

...But when I call you porch monkey, coon, jiggaboo, Kike, sand nigger, rag head ,Towelhead, WOP, Camel Jockey, Gook, slant eyes or Chink you call me a racist.

-You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

-You have the United Negro College Fund.

-You have Martin Luther King Day.

    -You have Black History Month.

    -You have Cesar Chavez Day.

    -You have Yom Hashoah

    -You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi

    -You have the NAACP.

    -You have BET.

-If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racist.

-If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racist.

-If we had white history month... we'd be racist.

-If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racist.

-If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racist.

-In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racist.

-Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them... they all got sent to court for being racist but the african-american, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned.

-You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

    I am white.

    I am proud.
But, you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

Now watch, I'll be a racist for posting this

So what? no one will post this for fear of being called racist

Tell me that this isn't true, when you know that mainly white people are the "antagonist" in this problem?

    So true!

I find that while applying for grants for college I needed to be either gay or a can of spray paint.

About time someone else noticed the injustice of it all and how it is okay for another race that is not white to go overboard, but if we even start to climb on the diving board then we are called a racist.

Okay, obviously I didn't just think of all that crap from the top of my head. That was something I found that I thought was true. I'm not stating anything racial. But this is true. When a white person wants to say that they are proud to be white, then a black freaks out and automattically calls you racist. When blacks stand for there ethnic group, they don't expect it to be racial. Who said anything about me being racial. Those are true FACTS. I actually found those. It's all true. Whether you agree or not, it's true.

It's a problem here in the South. Whites are declared as aggresive, a threat, an enemy, disrepectful. But I personally do not have any disrespect for blacks, but the "ghetto" blacks (wears pants that show their butt, talk like they were raised by cavemen, talk loud like they always have a volum button on high, act crazy as if they were in a zoo, disprespectful to adults because they think that they are better and adults are just dumb,)) I could go on. In the south, there is many racial problems, expecially here in Louisiana. I wish blacks WOULD treat us with repect. The blacks that make good grades, talk like they have some sense into them, respect all whites like they do themselves, dress decent, and that don't misbehave and is not curdious of their surroundings, I have great resppect for them. They are the ones that are very funny(without having to insult someone or talk negative against their ethnic group, dress decent, and treat everyone with common sense. I must say, I hate how we are treated. This statement is TRUE over here. None of ya'll can tel me so, because I live here. I know what goes on here. My class rooms are always debating and we are always having black/white fights because whites can't say what blacks say. It's not fair no matter what ANYONE thinks of it.

What is there to be upset about? That I have an opinion that whites are treated like crap and disrespected because blacks think they have all the power to say what they want now? I don't think so. Ya'll can get upset for what I believe in and what I know. But you don't know what I deal with everyday. WE(whites) live in danger because we are pushed around. We are SICK of it.

I agree that no one should be racist - even to whites. But if someone calls you "honkey," that STILL does not make it ok for you to call them a "coon." Never. There's no reason to. Even though there is not supposed to be racism against minorities in America anymore.. there still is, and probably always will be. I think the reason it's accepted as more tolerable for, for example, a black person to make jokes against a white, is because of the fact that whites HAVE been the dominant "class" for so many years. I think it was the theologian Chesterton who said about humor that it's allowable for a lower person to poke fun at a higher, to bring them down, but if a more powerful person makes fun of a lesser, then that makes them sink down to the level of cruelty.

  • BeautifulxMess

Yeah, the only whites that blacks like. Over here, if you usually don't like rap music, they automattically think you're racist becuase you think rap music is crap. Cause you can't spell crap without rap. True. And right. Rap music is the worst kind of music. I rarely listen to it. The only ones I like are the ones that have meaning to them. but yes it's true. If you act black, talk it, think it, and walk it, they like you over if you are white, you act it, talk it, ect. But how many whites do you know that are like that? I know several, but less than the whites that have some sense in their heads.

Let me pause for a second while I laugh at all the ignorance...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah. Now let me say that there is laready a post like this. According to Ann Marie's last message in the feedback and discussion forum, a person should search the forum homes before posting. Had you done that you would have found a quite enlightening discussion. But instead you choose to push your ignorance in here. Again, Like I said in the last discussion on this subject. What the op, and anybody who agrees with the op, fails to realize is that these same attributes she so lavishly (I believe I am quoting myself from the last discussion on this topic) throws upon African Americans actually belong to every group of people around the world. Humans are Humans; people are people. Not one race has a monopoly on a particular way to act. There is nothing new under the sun and no human being is different.

Now, onto your points. As for rap is concerned, do some fricking history homework. Not to mention watch Bet or Mtv and see how many music Videos, which contain violence, hatred, and anger, come from a little known white man named marshall mathers a.k.a. Eminem. (note the sarcasm) An african american could never get away with saying or doing the stuff he says in public, just ask rodney king, or mumia abu-jamal. Dont know who he is, look it up.

As for holidays and scholarships and whatnot, I could lilst a few. Thanksgiving, a celebration of wasps that came over and killed a bunch of native americans in order to steal their land, and we turned that into a holiday. Christmas, a celebration of a white man named santa claus, the idea of the tree comes from druid tradition, which by the way is found in northern europe like scotland and ireland. President's day, I could be wrong, but I believe every president this nation has ever had is white. As for scholarships, look up some scholarships and find out you can get a scholarship for everything and anything, including being white.

Speaking of good music. If you like rock and roll, the best and biggest innovator of the guitar, the primary instrument used in rock and roll, was a black man by the name of jimi hendrix.

Also, do not for any reason say that I am calling you racist; I don't need to Bob already did. What I have done is merely prove you entirely wrong. You are throwing out a stigma upon a group of people based upon the small setting in your highschool. Please read some books or something. You have the internet; I suggest you take more time to wikipedia than write poetry, maybe you'll learn something about the world.

You people(yes I said you people) really think I CARE about what ya'll think of me? What ya'll say about me? And what you THINK I am? I'm IGNORANT? Great example:
Just the other day my world geography class was talking about it. A black man started the whole thing. He said quote "I can't wait til the end of school because I have somethings to say about EVERYONE!." unquote. Our teacher(coach really don't ask) said to him is it anything bad. And he said yes. He pointed out that our group is racist. Me and my friends because we are always correcting him and teling him to be quiet after the teacher deliberatly said to BE QUIET! And do you think he does? No he keeps talking like it doesn't apply to him. So my friends and I asked him why does he have something bad to say about us? And he said "Because ya'll are a bunch of crackers that need to get ya'lls head out of ya'lls @$$e$" WTF! My point exactly. And my friend KK who isn't afraid of blacks said..."Is it ok if I call you a n*gger?" And he started yelling and screaming. He said that she is racist and should be dead for saying that. And he just got done calling me and my friends crackers. My coach didn't say anything. The guy said you going to let her call me that. He said "She wasn't calling you that, she was asking if its okay since you called her a cracker." Blacks weren't saying anything but laughing and saying "stupid white people"
My point here...we were called crackers without our permission, my friend just asked but got yelled at and WASN'T talking and directly saying he was. It doesn't feel good. My school has more blacks and whites. We don't feel safe. I know blacks that don't even feel safe because they feel embarressed about their own race. My friends that are blacks, say that they can't hang with other blacks because they make fun of her because she hangs with white people. It's very sad. Please, don't call me racist. If ya'll could only see how we're treated. It's like they won't accept us, but as much as we try to, they just push us to the side as if we're nothing. I know everyone is going to say more crap and say I'm still racist and try and prove me wrong, saying that I'm ignorant, but I don't care. I know what I go through, i know what I see and hear, and ya'll can't tell me otherwise. These aren't my facts, these are facts I found.

I agree to an extent but not entirely. Affirmative action needs to end, it was necessary at one point but now it is unfair. Minorities want equality? Then step up and accept it. Screw your skin color as far as i'm concerned, as long as you have these programs centered around race, racism will continue to exist. They are a reminder of the past and the racial tensions that existed/exist. If you get in an argument with someone do you keep bringing it up? No, because then it never ends and you are always fighting. Equality is not a pick-and-choose type thing. If you want it you get it all. It really irritates me that minorities can call themselves these slang words yet white people are destroyed if they use them. You want to be equal then either everyone can say it or nobody can say it. People need to be equal and as long as we keep making an issue of race it will remain an issue. (a lot of rambling but w/e.)

Whatever Bob, say what you want. I know what I am. I'm not racist. Let your little world think that. I realy don't care anymore. People can kiss my butt. But you know what, why tell me I'm something when you don't know who the heck I realy am. You don't go through what I do everyday at school and in my town. So thank you though for still proving my point about being called racist JUST BECAUSE I POSTED THIS! I'm racist for saying what I believe in. Oh well, if you think that, go right ahead. But you CAN'T (as much as you want to) tell me I'm wrong for what I feel towards how I'm treated by a certain group of people. I really hate that they can't accept me because I"m white. I accept blacks that accept me. I accept ANY race that accepts me. But don't tell me what I feel, and I'm wrong for it. Don't tell me that what I go through is just my own world. And PLEASE dont' tell me I'm racist. You just want to believe it. So whatever. Forget all of ya'll who think I'm heartless, and disrespectful. Come to my school, and then you can tell me if I"m wrong.

    Thatboyisbeautiful:

I really don't think Bob is trying to accuse you of being racist, I think he's just proving a point as to why racial comments towards whites are considered alright as opposed to any other culture which would be considered a hateful and racist comment.

I definitely agree with you, if you are a minority in a school where you are called degrading names considering your heritage I can imagine that it must be pretty painful. However, the reason why it's taken so lightly is because, in most cases, minorities don't usually include whites. We are considered to have the upperhand, and generally speaking we do. We are USUALLY given more privilages, better opportunities to education, and a higher class level in society (as contradictory as that sounds and howver much i think it's wrong I think we all know on some level that it's true).

Of course all of these factors completely screw kids like you over who are thrown into schools or other areas where YOU are the minority, yet recieve no credit for it. I don't however think it's right for you to be making racial comments too however, and if you are you should be called racist on some level, but so should the kids who are calling you names every day. Perhaps when you all make these comments (I'm not saying I never have) you don't actually agree with what you are saying, but if someones going to be called racist for the comments they make it SHOULD go both ways, but because of everything racial minorities have been put through in the past, it just hasn't worked out that way.

edit: I just saw Bob's previous post where he did label you a racist that I hadn't seen before. I do agree that you have made some comments that would make you appear racist, but I cannot label you that way unless I have some evidence that you make judgements or generalizations to all black people. I certainly hope, and trust, that you don't.

And I respect them for the person they are. They are the well taught and disiplained(sp?) kids. I am not racist. Though I may make racial comments, and say racial things. It's only out of my anger of how I'm treated. And how I'm treated refelects on how I treat that person. I act what is acted upon me.

It amazes me how everyone only cares about what happens to them. People are rude to you and it is like you are the only one it happens to, so it is okay for you to retaliate with the same ignorance. All of these views come from somewhere, hatred is taught and passed down. Maybe instead of being part of the problem in your community, you should be part of the solution. It is easy to stand in the corner and point fingers and do nothing. Everyone wants to point out the problem but no one wants to do anything real to fix it. How does it feel to be the minority? Now you know what they were going through. (well not really) Since everyone does not have this experience with blacks, maybe it says something about the mindset of your community and its inability to want to better itself. Maybe you should stop talking about black and white and start talking about individuals and their individual behaviour. You cannot condemn a whole race of people for something each one of us is responsible for and that is our own actions.

  • OMGdanielle

What i have noticed not only in this discussion but in life in general as well, is racial slur vs. racial slur: which is acceptable?

when writing cracker, chink, towelhead, beaner, and many other slurs [which are ALL unacceptable, by the way.], the majority of people will just write them without a second thought. However, i happen to notice that just as many people will write n****r or n*gger rather than nigger. yes, i said it. NIGGER. [and as a disclaimer i must add that i am not calling anybody ANY racial slurs, merely expressing a point of view.] so why is it that saying nigger is unacceptable, but another word such as beaner is not written as b****r or b*aner? or t****head? and, just for kicks, cr***er? i would like for someone to answer me this.
i am a mutt, my skin is white but my blood is many different races. i judge a person on the way they present themselves [the way they act and yes, sometimes, the way they dress, but usually body language and overall aura.] my best friends? most of them are white. this is not because i like "my people" better, it's because by chance, these people who are my friends have the qualities i look for in a friend, while some other people don't. is it because of their skin? absoloutley not. i DO have black friends, some great ones in fact, whom i love. and i have white friends. and we do not let race pull us apart as a group of people. because that's what everyone is.... a person. we all bleed if you cut us, we all smile if we're happy. i think of it as, if your white friend was dyed brown, or your brown friend bleached, would you love them less?

    i doubt it.

    Ok...Back to the topic...

I would like to say that saying the words "Black" and "White" is very generalising....

I should ask you, when you think of black what do you think of: Do you think of the person's individual identities, their ethnic background, their likes, their dislikes....

    Ofcourse not...You don't

I am sick and tired of this labelling of people who are obviously different from one another yet same in their idealogies and thinking...

Saying that you are proud to be white...Well I should ask you what type of white...Are you Irish, British, Italian, Russian, Latvian, Polish, Dutch, Norwegian etc...

It makes me laugh how people would argue and fight over such a silly subject...

I do not give two shits if someone had more previalge than me, I would stand up and work hard to get the same if not more than that person...Because it would make me aspire to something...And make me a better person.

Bob: You're right, I didn't give any insight as to how she should cope with her problem, but I definitely didn't mean to make it sound as if certain allegations toward different heritages were alright to make. I don't think it's ok for her to generalize or give comparisons as to how she should be able to say one word if another race is allowed to say another, I think none of those words should be said at all.

I agreed with her that she was being treated unfairly and that she is in fact being discriminated against for her race, being a minority of the location of her school. But if she were asking to be able to make racial slurs on the grounds that someone else is, I definitely don't agree with that.

This is hard for me to take the point of view of a white girl being a minority in a black community because all my life I have been the majority. So, I couldn't care less if someone called me a cracker or whatever apparent derogatory term against my skin color because I've never felt bad about my skin color. This is why racial slurs against other races (especially blacks) aren't taken so lightly, because generally other races ARE taught that they should be ashamed of their color. You could make arguments against it, and I do know that for the most part schools, the media, and basically the country try to eliminate that as much as possible, but I believe that even on a subconscious level racism is always present and works its way into the minds of different cultures in either small, almost unnoticable gestures or big ones to let them know that in some way they will always be slightly inferior to the white guy in social status. This is why a degrading term towards a black person by a white would never be tolerated, and why I couldn't care less if a black person called me something awful according to my race.

As for what I think she SHOULD do? My advice would be to ignore the comments made towards her and deal with the people who make them gracefully with the satisfaction of knowing that she is the bigger person for having the knowledge that they are wrong about her, aren't worth getting angry over if they're too judgmental to judge her character and not her skin color anyway, and that she is taking a very sophisticated and high road by not returning those comments or acting as ignorant as they are.

  • Noir

"and why I couldn't care less if a black person called me something awful according to my race."

If someone racially slurred you because you are caucasian, then you should report it and it is just as much not tolerated than if it was said by a white person to a black person...

It is not just white against black or black against hispanic...It's black that hate other blacks... Or hispanics hating other hispanics or whites hating other whites...

Blacks hating other blacks: An example would be east africans and west africans hating one another

Hispanic hating other hating other hispanics: An example would be Puerto Ricans hating the Salvadorans

White hating other Whites: Well we all know the holocaust...

It is so sad that people are ignorant to the fact that everyone deserves the same level of respect for who they are...Not from where they came from or what colour their skin is.

So Michelle, don't be stupid...Be yourself...And if you don't like a person because he is treating you unfairly or you think he is snotty, well then dislike him. But don't give me bull that you will tolerate it just because he is of a different ethnicity than you...Please!!

  • Michelle

Noir: I never said I was tolerating their comment BECAUSE of their race. I tolerate it because...I honestly do not care.

I have been called a cracker before in a very low and degrading way and honestly, it had absolute no effect on me. I would have been more emotionally aroused by someone calling me a bitch than by anything relating to my color, because like I said, I don't feel bad about my color. It would be like someone making blond jokes about me. I love my hair and know that I don't fit into the dumb-blond stereotype so when someone makes a joke I take it as they do--humorously. If I felt insecure about my hair color or intelligence then I would probably be hurt by the comment, but I don't.

And I am well aware that other cultures are well at racial war and that there are other races involved other than black and white. The reason why blacks and whites are being spoken of so frequently in this forum is because that is what Thatboyisbeautiful brought to attention. She is a white minority in a black dominated school.

  • Noir

Racism is such a prevalent thing today, it may not be voiced loudly as before becoming a passive aggressive version of itself. But we still need to know that what people say about us can hurt us, even if we don't blend into that stereotype. To know a person dislikes you because of your skin colour is sad indeed...

Ok I'm not reading through this whole forum, I'm just going to put my two cents and then i'm out (maybe):

    1) Whites have NOT had to overcome hardships like minorities in this nation

    2) Ethnic people made those other comments to fight back what they received which were racial slurs.

    3) While it is unfair that minorities get priority when it comes to college, white people will never be DENIED a college, you will always get into SOME college and if you do well in school, you shouldn't have to worry about it. And even brilliant, ethnic people don't always get into their college of choice. My friend is hispanic and didn't get into UCBerkeley and she was the valedictorian of her class.

    4) There is NOTHING wrong with being white--the fact of the matter is ethnic people TEND (and I'm not saying all) to be more proud of their heritage than white people. You ask an Asian person where they're from and they'll say "Korea, Thailand, etc" but you ask a white person and they'll say "I'm white from Europe". Most people I know who are Caucasian don't care where they're from, the only people I know who are white and really have a connection to their background are Irish.

Everyone should not be placed into the same catagory, but as it was said before, fighting racism with racism is not a solution. Slavery may have been generations ago and we may not have allowed it or approved of it, but what past generations did not take care of, is left for us to clean up. Obviously we are not doing a good job of that, hence this discussion.
