Philosophical thing

I wrote this a few months ago when i wasn't doing very well (keep that in mind when reading it)... just wonder what people think of it. its just random thoughts so hopefully people can follow it

"How much of what I experience and feel is real? do the things I care about most even exist or are they just the figments of a deranged mind; created to fill the empty space, to protect the last fragment of myself that yet remains. Is reality dictated by the beliefs and perspectives of each person or is there only one unbending set of truths. perhaps the mind refuses to accept the fact that reality is unalterable and as such attempts to mold the limits, events, and truths to the desired shape. does each person have a slightly separate reality created by their own individual mind? Or maybe the reshaped limits and events are just dreams. What is a dream though? On some level does a dream have ties to reality? perhaps dreams are more real than what we live. I wonder if maybe I am actually insane and everything I see is a hallucination, maybe I am more alone than I ever imagined... is a madman mad because he IS NOT in reality or because he IS in reality?"

I liked it. I read about that kind of stuff all the time. What exactly is reality? fun to think about.

Interesting thing to think about when you're stuck in traffic ;)

Yeah.... I try not to wander down that mind path too often. : )
Pushes me a little closer to the loopy edge, it does. In the end I always have to end up with a little Descartesque "I think, therefore I am." Or else I just decide that, IF everything was just a figment of some deranged imagination... then what's the point of worrying? Ha, that sounds sad. But there you go. I am glad you are a wonderer, though - a lot of people aren't. As abby said, enjoy the thinking. I hope you're feeling better!

Kinda reminded me of plato's analogy of the cave, like are people "mad" because they are the only ones to have actually seen reality.

Mad men are mad because they see reality...

Actually there is a quote that was made...

"Madness lifts the thin veil set by the Gods
Showing the perfections behind the imperfections
Reality is nothing more than a Childhood dream fabricated through nostalgic memories"

The loopy edge is indeed thrilling, abby. that's why I stay away from it. I'm afraid I'll somehow get the idea that I can fly....

oh, the irony. not just for the laundry anymore.

actually that is exactly what i was saying in the last line. i didn't know plato said that though. does that make me brilliant or unoriginal?

I think a bit of both :P no one is trult original, because everything must have been at least thougt about once before. it's like there's always going to be someone richer than you and always someone poorer than you.
