Seal slaugher is a 'sport'.

Thousands of sealers armed with clubs, rifles and spears have begun the world's largest seal hunt in the ice floes off eastern Canada. The contentious harp seal hunt, the target of protests since the 1960s, begins about two weeks after the seal pups are born when their fur changes from white to grey. The pups are clubbed to death and often skinned alive, but sealers and government officials who monitor the hunt insist the pups die instantly, under strict guidelines. Regulations require that hunters ensure their prey is dead before moving on.
"It's just horrific out there. There is blood all across the ice and seal carcasses as far as the eye can see," Rebecca Aldworth of the Humane Society of the United States said from the Gulf of St Lawrence.
"We've seen seals that were moving around and breathing, that have been left in these piles, some left conscious and crawling."

Seals are not meant to be for sport...It's truly disgusting...I wish that these people themselves are flayed alive...Like they flay the young cubs...

Tell me about it....the seals are 2 months old before they're slaughtered, and in the video you can see them still moving after they're hit. I think a lot of them are still too young to even eat solids.

I am pretty sure seals are also still alive when they are eaten or tossed around by killer whales then eaten, and when sharks violently shake them before chewing.

COry - what a totally invalid comparison ... how can you compare the cycle of nature to clothing imbeciles in the latest seal fur coat? Give me a break...

  • Phantasmagoria

It's not even for a fur coat, they do it for sport. For fun. Lame.

But this petition is making that act illegal. Right now, its legal. And the seals are 2 months old, being skinned alive, not even because someone needs their coats these people are obviously sadists who just want to hurt them as much as possible and call it a 'sport' to do so.

You are such a hippy... lol. Nah, I think it's cool to speak about what you believe. As long as you ain't bashin' others beliefs when you do it.

Well, see.....it's not that I condone killing animals of any kind.....

But seal are posing many problems. Overpopulation of seals is, as someone above said, causing harm toward other marine life.

To be honest, the poor seals will most likely die of starvation eventually anyways.

It really makes no difference - they'll die either way.

Again, I don't condone it, but there is a reason for it.

This is just sick and wrong. I am not for not eating meat and all that but I AM NOT in any way for waisting...or slaughtering in this case...of anything. You will defenently have my signature. Animal cruelatey is wrong. yes i beleive that some anamils are ok to eat but this is not what is going on here.

NO ONE! NOT one single person should allow this to happen to our earth! These people are sick freaks. and any person that says "yeah so whats so wrong with that?" your just as bad as the seal killers are...

Why are people so worked up about seals?!?!

If you protest all kinds of animal killings and you include seals...fine...but why just pick one type of animal that people kill and get steamed about it? BIAS! Lots of other animals are killed in cruel fashion...why not shout-out about those too? Should we be banning fishing now? Cause if you see a fish deep-throat the hook...you know there's a good chance it's gonna die a painful and cruel death XP How about those bugs that we spray insecticide on? Those won't die instantly...and there are lots more.

I hope it's not simply because you people think they are more attractive than them bugs or fish XP

I can see the whole over-population arguement here. If they eat all the food not only will they kill off all of those fish but they'll also end up all starving to death. Besides what's the difference between deer hunting and seal hunting eh? I mean, if you eat the meat it's all cool. I never had seal... but Inuits like it I think.

^^ It isn't crazy and it doesn't need to be stopped until 1. Politically powerful humans decide the killings should stop 2. Majority of people decides all killings should stop 3. Seal populations drop below a balanced level 4. Seals learn of our ways and clubs back for every seal clubbed...well then we would just have to club them good now wouldn't we..so that's not gonna work 5. Humans can find better use for these seals...maybe have more of them in shows or something...or get them to work for us..can we teach them to catch fish for us?..hmm...maybe they can drink lots of poluted water and filter it for the world :D 6. Seal hunters can find better prey to bring them more enjoyment. I think maybe we can replace the baby seals with puppies...HA while they're still blind..easy hunting then.

You know the funny thing is your argument seems "how do you say" weak...If your argument was a building, it would collaspe the very minute the tenants entered it...

Ha...You really need to work on what you actually say because there is confusion when you speak or should I say type.

Plus the who bulleting or numbering your argument not only stifles what you say or the lack thereof but it needs spacing to go with it...Like this:

    1
    2
    3
    4

Did you get it...Ok then...Carry on rousing the people with your lousy argument...

    Lol...

Haha...instead of picking on structure errors...try taking my previous post as a joke. I clearly set it forth as one. If you're so logical and strong, surely you woud've been able to notice that.

Besides, you're getting me all wrong. I'm not trying to "rouse the people with my lousy argument" (like you were trying to do to me...cause I would have to say yours was pretty lousy too) just trying to get people to stop being simple-minded idiots who can only focus on one part of the picture (like you were...seeing as how you only focused on my structure and not what I had to say :P).

    ^^

    Lol...

Wow...And how praytell would I know that your argument is nothing less than a joke...Did you type saying it was a joke, did you write it was a joke...Hmm?

So to me and many of the esteemed poets you made nothing less than a lousy argument. But seeing as you think that we know your humour...I got you all wrong...Lol...

    Now that's a laugh...

It's funny how you say it was a joke, (when clearly to many it wasn't) yet say at the same time that this joke was used to show the other side of the so called "picture"....

    Now that's humourously Funny...

Again Chaoticwhateveryournameiscalled....Rather than call my post the same words I called yours in an attempt to twist my words...Pathetic I should say.

I think you need to go and get a new "humour" chip or something along those lines, because your humour is "wickity wickity whack"...

Now run along, and be a simple-minded idiot somewhere else...Ok!

Sad that it's no longer about seals hunting and animal killings. I'll take my step back and apologize for my part in turning this into a dissing game between men in disagreement.

Noir, I held respect for you. You're good with expressing your thoughts...I apologize to you for pointed words. I lost the respect for you when you aimed only to put me down and not trying to prove my opinions wrong.

The thing that upsets me is how much they suffer. Some might have died from starvation, but when I compared the two I decided what is happening to them is much worse. Last year almost all of the population of young seals was wiped out by these hunters. The difference between what deer go though and what these seals is pretty obvious. Have you ever fallen and scraped a lot of skin off? Remember how it hurt? Now, imagine that all over your body. That's whats happening to them while they are ALIVE. And people are taking a lot of fish too. I mean, people could survive on other things, so I think its selfish to want to kill these animals for eating fish when these people could just eat something else.

I would say the same Chaotically Me, but I am too bored to do so...

But you're quite wrong in saying that my original aim was to put you down. I think that was an after-effect of questioning your initial post.

But no matter, I guess we can look past at this and laugh, but I highly doubt it..

    Back to the topic:

I think ethically what these hunters are doing is wrong. But again if it is for survival rather than killing them for manufacturing clothes. Then I guess that would be OK...
