Ok so i havent held a contest in a really long time so i thought i would give it a shot.....

here are the rules:

*has to be a love poem
*sad love, happy love,lost love, it doesnt matter just has to be love.
*can be new or old
*atleast 20 lines long
*must rhyme
*deadline is july 20th

*only TEN people in the contest so must reserve

I'd prefer your voice over any orchestra.
The violins are sweating notes as your fingers dance over the strings,
And your smile resembles that of safety like comfort no other brings.

Nature's beautiful with no flaws, but you could win this fight; I'd rather sink into those eyes.
The fireflies will show us something no other's have seen that entertain and seduce the night,
But baby you don't need to move; you could change the color of the sunset with your smile, it's true,
And even if the stars giggle down upon us, we'll simply laugh knowing they can't have the moon like I have you.

That string quartet is playing but the melody they're strumming is nothing to your voice
And those whispers you sneak in the air around me won't be lost; they'll melt into mine.
We'll turn up that music to feed our souls and move to the tune of our lips;
We'll slow dance to this disaster [we'll call it love that shakes our hips].

You can break my composure with one word and just a kiss could steal what breath I have,
But I'm no one to complain; your eighth note rhythm is mingling with the melody of my chords;
You are turning my composed, soft music of love from whole notes to eighth notes that take your breath away.

This is a terzanelle to my immortal heart,
Tired of going through the same old pain,
May it end, may my soul finally depart.

So hard to deal, its just so hard to explain,
About what I go through, what it does to me,
Tired of going through the same old pain.

One day she will know, one day she will see,
How she hurt me, maybe she will now care,
About what I go through, what it does to me.

This just isn't right, this just isn't fair,
Hope she enjoyed it, I hope she knows,
How she hurt me, maybe she will now care.

I've given up, I know it will never go,
This pain is like a sweet sad melody,

I sit here writing for everyone to see,
This is a terzanelle to my immortal heart,

The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.

There's only you in my dreams
Every night that's all I see
I never want to wake up
They will never let us be

*My high school performed the infamous play West Side Story and I was in the pit orchestra (clarinets rule :P ) I wrote this during one of our rehearsals. It's supposed to be Maria speaking mentally to Tony.

Behind the Crimson Door

The children of a neighbourhood go nowhere near
That solid crimson door which emits a dreaded fear
"It's evil!" "It's haunted!" is what they think is true
Yet they'll never really know; too scared to go through

The curtains at the windows, torn at many sides
With just one look, the town people decide
That this house must be evil, that's all that it can be
Their ignorance blinds them from truth that they can't see

The wooden door is crimson, a deep strong ruby red
In other's eyes that surely means bloodshed
Yet behind the door is happiness; a small loving family
Just two married elders, with the name Bramley

Mr. and Mrs. Bramley, married for sixty-two years
Sharing the happiness of love, through both laughter and tears
Knowing what other people think, outside the small house of theirs
Bothering neither of them, they're left alone with their cares

People sometimes say that ignorance is bliss
If you really believe that, then take a look at this
Never seeing a real example, of true love in the air
Their close-mindedness stops them realising what is there

So instead they are left to worry at night
If ghosts from the house will come to give them fright
The loving couple stay together in lovers galore
Locked in each other's heart behind the crimson door
