Darkness

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 14, 2015

I used to be afraid of the dark
until you introduced me to hell,
and soon I realised that darkness
shielded me from sights I will never comprehend.

Instead, I'm now confronting
these fears of buried memories
that are emerging in my shadows.

Feeling spiders crawl against my skin,
as you make threats of showing them
the only way in!

Seeing the blood dripping down
onto the bathroom floor beneath my feet,
a stinging pain that can't be bandaged,
despite your every effort to clean me up.

I used to be afraid of the dark,
until I learned to close my eyes,
and let it become my only friend,
saving me from so many sights
it knew I would never forget.
