Fond memories

Adam asked me, uncomfortably,
"Uncle, can you please
lend me . . . err . . . a hundred bucks?"
Never dreamt
he could be in such a need for money.
He is in his teens, and never asks for any.
"Don't tell Auntie about this!
I will surely return you
on the first of next month", he left, saying.
The cherubic smile on his face,
aroma of youthfulness
brought back fond memories.

On the first, he refunded.
But on the third, he emerged
asking for an equal sum!
"Didn't I return you on time?", the brat
showed me reason.
Scrutinizing his dress, his air
I sensed the season in his life!
I told him, "ok, so the loan is for your Eve!"
Adam blushed,"Don't tell Auntie about this!"

He reimbursed, "on time".
Yet borrowed the same, once again on the third.
Now, was he playing a game or simply pulling my leg?
When I told my wife, her brows grew wider.
She screamed, "What! He borrows a hundred
from me too, "on the first" of every month
and pleads, "Don't tell Uncle about this!"

"And repays me!", I concluded.

"But what happens to the amount
that you give him on the third, monthly?", She queried.

"He repays you!", I cleared.

So on the third, this October
we were both by his side
and she sweetly said,"Some loans, Adam,
better not get repaid
nor recycled either."

The cherubic smile on his face,
aroma of youthfulness
brought back to us
fond memories.
