Icy Inferno

by John Doe   Dec 30, 2014

I looked up
and saw
the golden tinge getting washed
receding
as though being pulled
dragged
trying to clench the old brick wall
leaving it behind
old and bare
exposing
the flaws we missed
behinds it's golden glare.
Still yet
I see the building
straight and tall
somehow holding itself
hoping to delay
it's inevitable fall.
But as the warmth and the glow receded
as it's veins
started to freeze
as it's face grew ashen white
as for the golden light
it silently screamed,
I saw it's windows
shining that one last time
asking me to let them go.
And along this rising Phoenix of dust
rises the icy inferno.
