Pawns

We walk in the woods
with the lights off
spiders lead us
to and fro
we do what they say
because if we don't
words that crush us
are spoken
they lead us to a creek
we walk
we swim
we drown
just because different
scares us so very much
this place we stay forever
pawns instead of us
