Inner Strength (Maybe TheLast Poem)

by Extinct Angel   May 14, 2008

This is for my dear friend Ash who has inspired me to come back to the world of poetry hopefully this poem give Ash the ability to see her inner strength.

Sometimes we lose our way
Along life's winding road
but when we are able to
Forgive ourselves can we
Truly be able to see
What we would leave
Behind when we are gone
Long ago faith meant so much
And should remain in our soul
For over time the
Wounds will heal and
The scars will fade
To be strong you don't need
Muscles except for one, your heart
Even in the final minutes
The compassion and love
One gives and is measured by
Can be the greatest
Strength and we only
Have one life to live
And with mine I hope
I have saved at-least
One persons life and
Healed many a more
If only I could know
What good I have truly
Done then I will not
Find myself wondering
I only wish that one can
Find inner strength
Even if its means needing
Help along the way
For the guiding hand is
Always Forgiving and Understanding

Footnote: this will probably be my last poem as poetry has helped my deal with my demons and the inspiration to write my hearts song is fading though maybe someone may pull me back. then at least I can help someone know how to write one one truly feels even in life's enigma.

Thank you for this wonderful poem. You are truly the greatest person on this earth. I wish though that this would not be your last poem - you're a great poet and an inspiration to everyone that reads your poetry.

^^I love these lines especially the last line. It gets you thinking about life as a whole and the fact that without forgiveness there is nothing at all.
