Enigmatic Prey (Revised)

by enigmatic_prey   Jul 27, 2008

Existence concealed within a cryptic, lonely void
Neglected by all yet still the facade never destroyed
Invulnerable as they say, undaunted to almost everything
Ghastly fact they do not know, those tainted, bloody wings,
Muffling the lithe, fragile soul from pouring intricate emotions
Awaits for someone who would shut off her heart's turmoil
Truth in mystery to be told, serpentine words never left her unscathed
Ignited morbid memories resurface as she walked on her path, unshod
Carved out from the waltzing death; a mere wraith in earth she was

Pierced heart by the writhing pain, still a smile etched on the face
Reeling away secretly from somber blue without a trace
Eyes of flooded emotions, perfectly hidden; wounds sealed away.
Yowling was never done for she was nothing but an enigmatic prey.

I found this very hard going. The words used are very powerful and often really do build strong imagery to the work, but I found myself thinking the very structure of acrostic poetry had been given precedence over what you really wanted to say. That said, this is not easy poetry to write, and you should be commended highly for taking on what so many people aren't really aware of!
