It Doesn't Hurt

by Yazdan   Sep 7, 2008

The thunder rolls
And the rain pours down
Over my cold hard face
Over the tears and the frown

The bright day is over
And the darkness is here
And with it, the sorrow
The pain and the fear

To love you by day
And to miss you by night
Has never felt so wrong
Yet never so right

Our love was a secret
From both family and friend
We thought that if it never started
It would never end

Behind the backs of all
We'd hold each other tight
We'd whisper loving words
And let our emotions take flight

But the secrecy had to end
But i hoped we wouldn't have to
Yet i knew that it would
Every time i said "i love you"

Then the night came
When you made your decision
To cut off our love
With a verbal incision

Though the cut was clean
The wound did not heal
Tears bleed from the cut
In a torrent i can't conceal

The memories are vivid
And evoke terrible pain
They hit me like stones
And fall like the rain

The kiss on the cheek
And my hands on your hips
The taste of your makeup
still lingers on my lips

I used to miss you
Only when we were apart
Now i miss you always
Inside my aching heart

You say we're on hold
And i pray that its true
I will wait an eternity
To hear you say "i love you"
