Rock and Bottom

by Iola   Feb 4, 2009

Your scars stay unrevealed to me
As my heart remains shut to you
Just like mine your mind is not free
To believe in what is left to be true

Evident is the grand walls you built
Our last resort is both cast in stone
A statue of rock will rarely tilt
Mummified skin will not reveal bone

You strike me with resemblance
I recognize my tricks in your hat
No need for agony or vengeance
Our bodies skinny but our purses fat

Let me not scratch on your exterior
It may crumble and crush me dead
Leave me to think I am inferior
Whisper sweet things to me in bed

Your painting selective though rusty
I remind you good things always end
I will show things you do not see
Then continue with pride and pretend

Upon a blue moon in a magical place
You and I lived with stars in our eyes
Today that in no longer the case
We have uncovered a life filled with lies

Your curiosity got killed by a cat
It sheds light on your uncannily manure
Do not want to spill milk on your mat
For a shrinking heart there is no cure

I can never compare my hurt with yours
As your world is so much different than mine
Going forward I will feel no remorse
Loving you differently should not be a crime
