The Art of Losing Everything

by SmileeItsBritt   May 20, 2009

Swinging, Swaying, Falling
The ocean waves are calling
They roll into shore, you grasped my hand
And the salt it filled my lungs

Bending, Breaking, Broken
Light whispers are left of what was spoken
My ears rattled at the distant echo,
And a chill ran down my spine

Walking, Running, Leaving
Hands unsteady, heavy breathing
Counting footsteps until all sound was lost
Giving up has never been this easy

Liking, Loving, Hating
The sounds of sirens resonating
As I folded my hands across my lap
I finally understood the pain of losing.
