The Queen, Magician and the Knight

by Ben   Jul 3, 2009

Laying in a bed of snow,
The battle rages around her,
She closes her eyes and drifts away,
Lost in her thoughts, a small escape.

Locked away in her castle,
Locked away from the beauty of the world
Every day she dies, just a little more
Love is her curse, for it is never to be unfurled.

A mighty Queen she once was,
Tricked by an evil magician,
Her power diminished under his curses,
Now lays captive in her dungeon.

Out the small window of her stone room she will gaze,
Surrounded by the emptiness of her lands,
For her people have left her rule,
Her friends have disband.
Are there none to rescue her?

Far across the sea there is a young man,
He hears the tales of the trapped Queen,
He travels for weeks across many lands,
This is one adventure he had never dreamed.

Battling all kinds of foe along the way,
Town after town the word spreads of a brave knight,
Gathering an army against the powerful wizard,
Conjured evil demons they must fight.

After weeks of hardship the knight views his destination.
The castle lays upon the horizon of the setting sun,
Traveling day and night to rescue his Queen.
After hours of battle, the snow surrounding the castle is turned crimson.

Laying in a bed of snow,
The battle rages around her,
A small rosebud of hope blossoms inside,
With each passing moment the flower begins to grow.

The wizards conjured animals are all defeated,
But this lonely is the only man who remains.
Smashing through the castle doors, the knight is confronted,
More blood will be shed this day.

For inside the castle fireballs streak through the air,
Singeing the knight behind his shield,
His life almost over as the weakness sets into him,
In one last attempt at rescue, the knights sword streaks through the air.

The evil magician falls to his knees,
For no magic is as strong as the magic of love.
The knight climbs to the highest room of the castles tower.
Alas his eyes show him the true meaning of beauty after opening the door.

Laying in a bed of snow,
Her curses have been lifted,
Life returning to her slowly each day
Experiencing the beauty of the world,
For it was love that rescued her.
