The Broken Vow

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Mar 1, 2010

After we broke it off, I gave myself a vow,
Falling in love again was something I wouldn't allow.
Until I gave it one more thought and it got under my nerves,
You being my last love is an honor you don't deserve.

I'll love once more and feel pain again just because I'm alive,
Too bad that you couldn't believe I'm able to survive.
I am way beyond over you, you're past the mind and the heart,
I've finally mastered letting go, and letting go is an art.

You might think that these lines are written just because you are missed,
No, my friend, I write these lines to prove that I still persist.
I'm sure you're crying blood right now, and you want me back once more,
The self-pity you still display is one that I abhor.

Yes, I broke my own vow and of that I really am glad,
No more teary days, no more feeling sad.
I gave it one last thought till it got under my nerves,
You being my last love is an honor you don't deserve.

*As long as i know how to love, I know i will stay alive.

We all make vows about love that we insist on breaking. (smiles) Sounds like breaking this one was good so you could move on. Love the quote at the end. Well done.
