Withered Wings

by Dreaming out loud   May 4, 2010

On wings of possibility,
powered by devotion and desire.

She played among the meadows
and danced among the stars.

Exploring craters on the moon
adventure was her guide.

Until the dark and ageless day
devotion began to die.

Weakened by the guilt of age
desires began to hide.

Beautiful translucent wings
withered with a sigh

As hope left her body cold,
Tears froze in sad blue eyes

Forever is an enigma,
love is just a lie

Fantastic job on this piece, I like it for many reasons: 1.) It is very descriptive. "Tears froze in her sad blue eyes" I like that you explain what color her eyes were, some don't focus on tiny details like that. 2.) Words that would normally not rhyme do in this piece. Stars, desire. I really enjoyed this poem. Great job :)
