What happened to the poets

What happened to the poets
Are they off drinking again
Finding anything to stop their thoughts
Till it all comes to the bitter end

What happened to the singers
Who sang such a pretty song
I listen through the darkest nights
Just hoping to sing along

What happened to the lovers
They spend time apart to find
The truth they lost along the way
They separate in their minds

What happened to the children
They've been screaming all night long
The dreams like death inside there heads
I wish to make them strong

What happened to the poets
And the poems they use to share
The pretty words twisted and burned
And left us in despair

    Like a rabbit caught in a snare, you can still see them squirm for words, with mouthless faces, silent screams into empty spaces.
