To Be Nothing To You

by Molly Elizabeth   Jan 2, 2011

It takes too much effort
to be nothing to you
and I just can't find the strength anymore.

I'm exhausted
from your constant back and fourth
You obviously don't see what you'll lose
when you'll lose me.

I wanted to be there for you
but you've grown distant and cold
and I can't get past the shield that you put up.

You could have been good for me.
I could have been good for you.
But my time is worth more than you're willing to give
When you can't even make an effort,
to even be a friend.

You show no interest. Just excuse.
You have no time, only reasons why.
You see no value, in who I've been to you.
And when this is over, you're the one who will lose.

So my hands are up, white flag, I've given up.
You want to be alone. You are alone.
You say you need space to figure it all out.
I hope you find happiness in the superficial
and support in all your nights alone with your thoughts.

I could have loved you someday,
like you've never known.
But you will never know.
