When Mermaids Cry

by Max Krakers   Apr 2, 2011

Bubbles at the surface,
ripples in the tide.
A figure soon emerges,
a youthful ocean bride.

Crying but determined,
she reaches out to me.
Her body cold and lonely,
trapped inside the sea.

Her touch so warm and soothing,
her lips so close to mine.
They gently touch each other,
the feeling is divine.

Slowly her grip lightens,
ending our embrace.
Teary-eyed and happy,
with a smile across her face.

The water soon engulfs her,
returns her to the deep.
Her tear-filled eyes still glisten,
as she slowly falls asleep.

Her tears lost to the ocean,
where they shall never dry.
But I'll always remember,
that I saw a mermaid cry.
