A Lingering.

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 23, 2011

Oh redolent cherry flower,
won't you hug me more often?
I apologize if I can't stop my
constant questions,
but you are the beautiful world
I depend on.

It seems I will always be waiting on you....
holding the air in until you promise
that there is a petal of tenderness
left.

Don't shiver at my breath,
for I wish a million impossibilities
on you....and I see into you-
past the frames of beauty
to the moments where you wake
and stay by my side.

Times change,
though everyone is wanting your picture
and a nail to hang you up,
I will keep you where you belong....
in the nature of my heart.

I really enjoyed the play on words and the imagery you penned. The last stanza was excellent and brought the whole poem full circle. Very enjoyable
