With no hope left...

by Matthew Schut   Jan 24, 2012

I remember the days we used to fight,
about who loved each other more,
not getting off the phone for hours,
until we both agreed that it was equal.

Oh, how we were so in love,
goosebumps still filled my arms,
even after three years together,
every day was a new spark of love.

Through all the struggles of life,
you always promised you'd be near,
holding my hand through every storm,
and telling me that we could make it together.

I was there for you through everything,
everyone admired our relationship,
saying how perfect we were for each other,
and how they could see us getting married.

Our relationship seemed so perfect,
but as time went on, we drifted apart,
life's troubles ripped us away from each other,
and we no longer were able to be together.

I'm drowning in this flood called life,
I really need you by my side,
I wish you were here to comfort me,
and I can't do it without you.

Please come back, I miss you so much,
my heart is slowly fading away,
I'm drowning in my own tears,
and I need you to save me...

Love this poem. Full of emotion, that the reader can feel as they read. I too have been down that road, feeling all alone. Luckily for me, I turned the corner and met my wife. Love strikes when you least expect it. Never give up, and never stop writing.
