If God Were...

If God were...

If God was a color
what would He be?
Bright like orange
Or soothing like green?
The color of peace.

If Jesus was flower
What would He be?
A tulip, daisy,
He'd be a rose
With the thorns, around his head,
All the while watching, until he was dead.

If God was a question
What would you ask
Why all the suffering, why must we die?
And would you answer back?

If you were an atheist
What would you say?
Evolution is life, just a little accident
and if there's a God,
Why won't he just answer back?

If God was an actor
Set on a stage
What kind of emotion
Would he display?
Anger, sadness and full of rage
from the way we behave.
We are no saints.

The entire earth
is made from dirt.
Everything that it holds
Our houses, our cars and furniture.
All is dirt.
We just changed the form.
We'll harm each other
and sweep this dirt
right out of our doors.
And I am left to wonder why
salvation is so freely given
to those never earned.

If God was a color
what would he be?
Bright like orange
Or soothing like green?
The color of peace.

If Jesus was flower
What would he be?
A tulip, daisy.
He'd be a rose
With thorns, around his head, for a crown
and would that make him king?

If God was a question
What would you ask
Why all the suffering, why must we die?
And would you please answer back?

If you were an atheist
What would you say?
Evolution is life, just a little accident
and if there's a God,
Why won't he just answer me that?

If God was an actor
Set on a stage
What kind of emotion
Would he display?
Anger, sadness and full of rage
from the way we behave.
We are no saints.

The entire earth
is made from dirt.
Everything that it holds
Our houses, our cars and furniture.
All is dirt.
We just changed the form.
We'll harm each other
and sweep this dirt
right out of our doors.
And I am left to wonder why
the gift of salvation is so freely given
to those never earned.
