BROTHERS

As we briefed that day
about what would occur
We had this funny feeling
but none of us were sure

Why we felt this feeling
deep down inside
The bad guys can't beat us,
even if they try

On that car ride over there,
slipping on our vests
We didn't expect our training
to be put to the test

Guns in hand and loaded,
ready just in case
We pull in the parking lot,
not knowing what we face

We shall do what we came to do,
this mission will not fail
The first four enter,
Police is what they yell

I'm approaching the building
to help my brothers out
I hear *POP**POP*
then I hear them shout

I run as fast as I can,
rush through the door
Heart beating through my throat,
there's s a man on the floor

I see he's not one of us,
breathe a sigh of relief
But it is our duty to help him,
this is my belief

I rush back to the car,
call on the radio
Shots fired, one down,
the hospital he must go

I grab my first aid kit
and run back to the mess
Stuffing gauze in bullet holes
and hold pressure on his chest

Covered in his blood,
trying to save his life
This man has children
and a loving wife

He drew his gun on my brother,
this was his own fault
But it's now my duty
to help the man we have shot

Questioning our every move,
what could we have changed
After what I saw that day,
I'll never be the same

When I put on that badge,
I swore to protect and serve
You point a gun at a cop;
you'll get what you deserve

The last thing we want to do
is harm another
But we will do what it takes,
to protect our brothers

We felt that funny feeling,
when we were on our way
It is so apparent
God was there that day

We did what we had to do,
to enforce the laws of man
It just sucks that things
don't always go as planned

But we know our hearts are good
and in the right place
Time to pin that badge back on,
another day we shall face
