No Prize

by AnnaCG   Sep 10, 2016

I'll light the way if you ask me to,
But don't get too close my dear.
Though the flame is warm and comforting,
It will scorch anything too near.

Reduced to but an ember,
Sparked again by the light in your eyes.
You've set me upon this pedestal.
But I assure you, I am no prize.
