So Long Partner

by uppercase   Nov 8, 2016

Friendship has become such a dangerous gambling problem.
I've placed all bets on us, and now I'm deep in the hole.
Reality comes each night to collect its dues.

Loneliness, solitude and I have come familiar with each other.
They shook out all the contradictions left in my jeans.
These tenacious goons can never keep their hands off my shoulder.

I won't be learning from the consequences until the dues have been made.
There's an eternity from now to then, and we've only begun.
Each time you look at my feet, make sure you don't feed the sharks.
