Maybe next time

I always said, "we meet at least two people in our lives we wish we met in another life,
I've had the misfortune to meet one already, so does that mean I get a least one more?
Unfortunately, she will never see this poem or ever see my face again,
Hence, the "meet in another life" part in the beginning,

Its one of the worst pains to deal with,
knowing that you possibly could have been with someone who you believe has your heart,
To find out that you can never be,
and when reality hits, tears fall down your face like rain on a window pane,

All I can do is look at updated profile pictures of you and your family,
brushing your hair back through my screen,
One thing we both knew was that we could see each others pain,
Our eyes hid all the secrets,

But your eyes were different than others,
your eyes were my eyes,
Even when you smiled and laughed I could see the pain you kept,
I would kissed your scars to try and make it better but it never did,

New ones would appear everyday so I matched you,
our love would have been something crazy, dark, passionate, and romantic,
We would heal each other with one hug, one kiss, and one "I love you" at a time,
The reality is, this is only wishful thinking,

Maybe one day you will find all my messages in a bottle, but maybe that will be in another life,
some how they get washed ashore and from your new unblemished soul and can read how one man loved a woman so much, his love traveled through time.
Maybe.....one day.
