"The unexamined life is not worth living."
    - Socrates in Plato's Apology
Before any battle, even an internal one, can be fought (much less won) the sides must be identified, the forces mustered and the strengths and weaknesses of both opponents assessed accurately.
You start by asserting that you are your own enemy, yet you progress into the stage of assessment, first expressing the need, then examining the means to aid your own survival. By the end, in my own humble opinion, you have gained the upper hand by accepting that you must and likely will enlist the aid of others.

Thank you for your insights. I was not conscious of the progression you mentioned when writing this poem, and I think it's worth thinking about.

An intense write that expresses the never ending conflicts and battles we face within ourselves. Very powerful. Well done!

Thank you for reading my work. It is always a poetic challenge for me to express my experiences as well as write broadly enough that my work might touch someone else, too. It sounds like this time I might have suceeded.

I love every bit of this.

    "I'm killing me
    with my consent,
    a coward's dark confession."

My favorite verse. This is worded so beautifully.

It's always easier to run than it is to stay fight. You did a great job of encapsulating that in this poem!

Such a difficult dilemma, one I know too well.
I finally chose to fight, and its slowly working :)
Well written and nicely expressed sentiment.

A strong confession of a troubled soul...yes...and I think one I can relate with. The pace of this poem is lovely and it adds to the darkness of the piece. Great write!
