A Broken Rose:

by Scott Cole   May 25, 2017

Is a wilted rose
Like a broken heart,
Both drained of their lovely juices
And both falling half apart.

For the two have seen brighther days
Watched the horizon flip flop the Sun,
Much greener pastures of which to roam
And eyes to get lost in just for fun.

They both have been in the limelite
And yes of course center of attention,
The prize of a precious soul's heart
Yet both filled with lost feelings and emotions.

They both could have been something
For any lonely heart's desire,
But both were passed over by choice
So now both fall to pieces and expire.

So now I ask once again, is a rose
That has but wilted all away,
Is it just like a broken heart
That having a really unlucky day.

An interesting simile here, Scott: Is a wilted rose like a broken heart? I suppose in many ways, it is, although rose bushes tend to go on and bloom anyway, shedding past losses. We and our fragile hearts can't always do the same, can we?

    All the best,
