Fakin'

by Some Random Human   Sep 16, 2017

I wake up every morning,
to realize that you're still gone,
feels like I missed the warning,
feels like my whole life's wrong,
a new day is never dawning,
through the night I can't hold on,
I wake up and I'm still yawning,
sleep and I don't get along,

Lookin' at the mistakes I've made,
well, you know I just keep makin',
do you see all the things I take,
well, you know I can't keep takin',
when you see the smile on my face,
can you tell that I'm just fakin',
if you could see inside my chest,
you'd see that my heart is breakin',

These things I can't stop feeling,
can't heal this heart that's broke,
inside this pain is killing,
can't stand that I'm a joke,
your presence once was thrilling,
hung on the words you spoke,
now your absence is chilling,
since we went up in smoke,

Lookin' at the mistakes I've made,
well, you know I just keep makin',
do you see all the things I take,
well, you know I can't keep takin',
when you see the smile on my face,
can you tell that I'm just fakin',
if you could see inside my chest,
you'd see that my heart is breakin',

All of the things I tried to hide,
you know I can't keep hiding,
all of the things that you decide,
are not what I'm deciding,
all of my secrets I confide,
but are they worth confiding,
they say that one can not divide,
then how are we dividing,

Lookin' at the mistakes I've made,
well, you know I just keep makin',
do you see all the things I take,
well, you know I can't keep takin',
when you see the smile on my face,
can you tell that I'm just fakin',
if you could see inside my chest,
you'd see that my heart is breakin',

When you see the smile on my face,
can you tell that I'm just fakin'?

This is great! Lyrical and clever, depicting that awful period of grief and bewilderment at the end of a relationship ... I can relate! Nicely done! :-)
