Somewhere in The Sea

by donk2ymouth   Mar 17, 2018

I drown deep down
in this ensuing tsunami
taddle tail tidal waves
twirl me round and round
as im whisked away by whirlpools
these white waters baptized in sin
none of this would be an issue
had i learned to god damn swim
or had some sort of safety device
something that would help me float
and it would be rather nice
if this journey was by boat
no sails to skate the seas
only clockwise turning knees
id rather not sink, i think
as my head dips down beneath
caught in a surprise riptide
split my skull on corral reef
resistance will be futile
when the tide inevitably comes in
im drowning and im dying man
sharks breaking surface with their fins
im getting awfully tired of trying and
the sea salt begins to chafe my skin
will you please be my anchor love
you're bonnie and im clyde
yet the only thing we're stealing
is someone elses time
as i land on atlantis
the city lost to the sea
the sign, it says Welcome
population: me

Maynes this brilliant! Great metaphors throughout and the last few lines just nail your feelings of despair and confusion. Love it! :-) x
