Until I get back

In a little over a month I realize;
I’m to move across the country to attend a great college in the place I’ve always wanted to go to.
As I stare at my phone screen it all feels so unreal-
Especially because you have no idea
this is happening yet since I just found out a couple hours ago.
My college ID and password stare up at me;
Waiting for me to login to my account
and register for the classes I’ll be taking to get my degree.
My heart is pounding so hard in my chest I think it might break through;
And my thoughts race at a million miles a minute making it hard to think about what I’m gonna say when I tell you.
I know that this isn’t going to be easy for
when I go I won’t have any idea when
I’ll be able to see you in person again;
And the thought of that makes my heart drop a little bit too much.
You are everything that is right in this world
And babe;
I hope you know that when I go I won’t be taking my heart with me-
I’ll be leaving it here with you to take care of until I get back.
