What is a Father?

What is a father?
Someone who cares?
Someone who listens?
Someone who is always there?

Does he exist?
Is he real?
Does he hurt?
Does he feel?

Is he the man you go
To tell all your troubles to?
Is he the one who teaches you
What is lie and what is true?

Is he the guy you love
Most in the land?
Is he the one you most trust
To give you a helping hand?

What is a father?
I’d really like to know
And is he responsible
For the daughter he doesn't know?

    Excellent poem...It reminded me of my friend who is always beaten by her father...and reminded me of myself...my father doesnt even know who I am. I hate fathers who leave their family...it is just so sad. This was very well expressed. keep it up. xxx

    I would like to think so. It's too bad not everything is how we'd like it to be. It's also so sad that fathers who abandon their children don't realize the scar their leaving on their souls. Emotional write. 5/5.
