Life and Pain

by Ren   Jun 15, 2005

Night by night I watch them come.
One by one they sing their song.
Lie down child,
Don't be afraid,
For all together,
We form one braid.
Just lie down child,
And come to us,
For all you must do,
Is see it too.
I close my eyes,
And my thoughts rush by,
All the things that lie,
Soaring through time.
Dark ghosts...
Come...
Every night...
Telling me things...
Causing me fright.
They want me to die,
They want me to join their evil themes,
But I will not,
For then I will sing...
I shall not come,
For I am fine,
I am just here,
Thinking my mind.
My life may suck,
And the pain will always stay,
But you know what?
I feel it everyday.
Please don't bother,
Trying to lead me down that road,
For last time I was vulnerable,
And may have shown.
So just go away,
And never come back,
For this pain is something,
I will never lack.
The ghosts then stare,
And leave in flames,
With evil glares,
Screaming nasty names.
I then lie down,
And try not to cry,
Fighting my frown,
I don't want to die.

    Hi Ren,

I've written a few poems with a really similar theme to this; the idea of lying awake at night and being tempted or harassed by demons and ghosts who would steal your pure and happy thoughts and lead you down a path of misery!
A dark piece, but one - ultimately - laced with stubborn hope!
All the best and I hope you are well,
    Ben
