Forever lasts never

by No Motiv?   Jul 2, 2005

It's long...get over it.

-----

she screamed as you slammed the door

your fists are clenched at your side

the girl who you promised to never hurt

stayed home tonight and cried.

you chose to leave the house

and leave her all alone

all because of one stupid fight,

one that you can't even condone.

it doesn't really bother you

that tonight has gone to waste

you need awhile to think, anyway,

why hurry up the pace?

it's the morning next and you

have headed off to work...

you haven't gone home

so you leave in the same pants and shirt.

You're the office manager,

who works on the 90th floor,

You've got no time to think about last night,

what should you worry for?

Working silently at your desk,

when suddenly you hear screams,

everyone starts running,

and you feel you're in a dream...

an explosion reveals a burst of

flame

as you fall to the ground...

for a second the screaming has ceased,

and you can't hear a sound.

A coworker starts crying

and speaking about a plane...

you're stuck in a stair well,

the last place you want to remain.

You take out your cell phone,

Because you need to call your girl,

But you can hardly even concentrate,

the room begins to twirl.

You know this is your final moment,

Minutes about to claim your death,

You try to gain your strength,

You take one last final breath.

You couldn't make the call,

To tell her how much you'll miss her,

You regret everything last night,

You wished you would have kissed her.

Yesterday, you thought you had the time

to apologize and make amends

You never thought tomorrow

would halt and come to an end.

Now tomorrow has come and

yesterday has left your side,

If only, if only, yesterday,

you gave the proper goodbye.

Forever lasts never,

Live like tomorrow will not come,

Because the things you do and

do not do, can never be undone.

a friend asked me to explain this poem; it is about a man who gets in a fight with his wife and dies in the world trade center on 9/11
