History assignment

Sinking in a trench of fear,
Look left then right; it's all around,
Nobody dares to come near,
Right now could your heart beat it's last pound.

The men are dead silent,
The silences linger,
Bloodshot by all the violence,
Shoots another trigger.

You smell the gunpowder,
You feel the tear draw to your eye,
Suddenly it's getting louder,
Well that's when you begin to cry...

I have written many poems on trench warfare myself, however I haven't really posted them. Nice job.
