Shadows In The Dark/An Emotion Called Love

A handprint on the window
Another swallowed sigh
A grin-and-bear it hello
But one reluctant goodbye

With the lights turned was down low
Until it is black as night
I gaze out of my window
And wait to adjust my sight

I think about you suddenly
How much I`ve missed you so
Knowing in my heart it's right
And that I`ll never let you go

Feeling the arms of the sweater
Filled with only the air
I imagine what it felt like
When it was you that was there

As my gaze adjusts
I see the familiar things
The trees, the road, the grass
What the April showers bring

A feeling washes over me
With such a sudden force
I can`t believe what is happening
As my life takes on a new course

I see the streetlights illuminating
Parts of the road below
Knowing that in this journey of life
There are many paths I must go

I`m again caught daydreaming
Of course, about you and me
Wonder what the future holds
And where, just exactly, we'll be

My heart fills with such an emotion
I can`t even begin to describe
As if all the love and magic
Is hidden somewhere deep inside

As a car passes by my window
Shadows dance on my wall
Playing tricks on my mind
Though, I imagined it all

I turn around to see
The ceiling up above
Finally able to name this emotion
An emotion we all call love

Finally satisfied with my thoughts
I situate myself into bed
Just before I doze off and dream
You are the last thing in my head

I know when I wake up
The feeling will still be there
Hoping and praying it won`t go away
Wondering if life will be that fair
